Hello friends of this community,

Today, I want to share with you some photos I took during a walk in my hometown, Soave, which I have often talked about in my posts. Last year, it was awarded the title of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, and I am rightly proud of it because it's truly beautiful.

When I have some free time, I like to take a walk to stay in shape and discover something new. For several months now, Soave has become the center of numerous events organized every weekend. During this visit, I had the pleasure of participating in an event dedicated to a unique art form, that of the "Madonieri."

The Madonieri are street artists specializing in the creation of mainly chalk drawings that depict religious figures like the Madonna. I realized that about 30 kilometers from my home, there is a school dedicated to this art form, committed to preserving and passing on this tradition. The event was an extraordinary opportunity to introduce this art to a wider audience and perhaps convince some enthusiasts to join in.

I spent time observing these artists at work, and I discovered that Madonieri use chalk to create their works. The technique involves first outlining the subject with white chalk and then filling the space with colored chalk. It's a fascinating technique that requires precision and talent, but one must also consider the uncomfortable positions in which they work.

I had heard of Madonieri, an art form with roots in Europe dating back to the 16th century and which was particularly widespread before World War II. However, I hadn't had many opportunities to see them in action until yesterday. Often, they can be found in squares during events or festivals, where they create depictions of the Madonna and request offerings in return, or they gather at some gatherings.

In conclusion, this was an extraordinary experience that allowed me to learn more about an art form that I partly knew of but was unaware that there were still those who practiced and studied it with such dedication. The photos I have shared represent just a taste of this wonderful day. Thank you for reading my post thus far, and I look forward to sharing new discoveries in my next message. Until next time!

I really dont mind watching them work but this is something I'd love to try, really fascinating. I think the position they are in will hurt their back or waist, thanks for sharing
