Exploring the Historic Castelbrando in Cison di Valmarino!"

I am truly excited to share with you an unforgettable experience I recently had. A few days ago, I mentioned Cison di Valmarino in one of my posts and promised to tell you more about a castle nearby. Well, the time has come to unveil the details of this extraordinary adventure! Cison di Valmarino is a small village nestled among the Prosecco hills, located in the heart of my beloved region of Veneto. This picturesque place, with its cobblestone streets and traditional houses, is already an irresistible attraction in itself, which I recommend visiting. Still, the real surprise of this visit was the opportunity to explore an authentic historical gem: a castle considered one of the largest and oldest in Europe, Castelbrando! The history of this castle dates back to Roman times when it served as a military outpost. It was not yet a real castle but a castrum. Over the centuries, it underwent astonishing transformations, enriched by the influence of noble families such as the Brandolini, Collalto, and Papadopoli. These families constantly modified and enhanced the castle, contributing to create the imposing structure we can admire today, making it more and more beautiful. Today, this historic castle has been transformed into a luxurious hotel, offering visitors the extraordinary opportunity to stay in elegant rooms, decorated with antique furniture but equipped with all modern comforts. I had the pleasure of visiting this magical place, and I can assure you it is a timeless experience. The historic halls of the castle provide the perfect setting for events and ceremonies, and I cannot help but fondly remember a wedding I attended here, immersed in beauty and history; it felt like being in a fairy tale. While exploring the inside of the castle is a fascinating option but not always possible, that day, I chose to explore the exterior. The castle offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding valley and Cison di Valmarino, making it even more special. The photos I took cannot fully capture the beauty and grandeur of the place, but I hope they can give you a taste of how fascinating it is. The castle is divided into three main parts: the Lower Village, the Upper Village, and the Princely Palace. The Princely Palace houses the rooms of the luxury hotel, while the two villages retain their historical charm. Occasionally, guided tours are organized that will immerse you in the history and secrets of each part of the castle. To reach the castle, you can take advantage of a small cable car that will take you up to the scenic hill where the castle is located. The cost for this short journey is surprisingly low, only 1 euro. Additionally, you can freely explore the gardens located near the hotel, enjoying the tranquility of the place. If you wish to explore the inside of the castle, I recommend planning a guided tour. These knowledgeable guides will not only provide details about the castle's history but also share stories and secrets hidden behind the walls. Thank you so much for following me this far. I hope my photos have captured at least part of the magic of this place. I promise to continue sharing my adventures and discoveries with you. See you in the next post! See you soon!Hello dear friends of this splendid community!

I think it's the only way to see it inside, or there's always the option to stay there.

I want to hop on a plane and go there now! Looks lovely!

Thanks for your tour. That's a amazing castle. The best part is there are no people. It's like you have the whole castle to yourself. Cheers
