More curiosities of stablecoins - Más curiosidades de las monedas estables
Yesterday I commented on some characteristics of the so-called "stable" currencies, the main one is to maintain parity with the dollar, which is not so bad but I also said that some have not achieved it and that had a negative and notable influence In investor confidence, I mentioned that this parity choice has become a drawback given the estimated inflation figure for this year in the United States that has surpassed any mark in the last 40 years. On another occasion, I also mentioned some doubts about the assets that support the parity with the dollar.
But it is not all bad news and inconvenience for stablecoins, according to the latest surveys, everything indicates that stablecoins are the only ones that have almost fully maintained their market capitalization, actually, they are down 10% although compared to the losses in that bitcoin item, for example, the difference is huge.
The most famous and used cryptocurrencies have together lost almost 70% of market capitalization in recent months, but those who saved the clothes have been precisely the stablecoins. According to a popular phrase in these times and in this part of the world, they are the ones who “hold the rags”.
It is still an encouraging fact, far from its best moment, not everyone is fleeing from cryptocurrencies, some continue to trust and despite high inflation, a unit of a stable currency is still equivalent to one dollar.
En el día de ayer comenté algunas características de las monedas llamadas “estables”, la principal es la de mantener la paridad con el dólar, eso no está tan mal pero también dije que algunas no lo han logrado y eso influyó negativamente y de manera notable en la confianza de los inversores, mencioné que esa elección de paridad se ha vuelto un inconveniente dado el guarismo de inflación estimado para este año en los Estados Unidos que ha superado cualquier marca de los últimos 40 años. En alguna otra oportunidad también mencioné algunas dudas sobre los activos que respaldan la paridad con el dólar.
Pero no todas son malas noticias e inconvenientes para las monedas estables, según los últimos sondeos, todo indica que las monedas estables son las únicas que han mantenido casi totalmente su capitalización de mercado, en realidad bajaron un 10% aunque comparado con las pérdidas en ese rubro del bitcoin por ejemplo la diferencia es enorme.
Las criptomonedas más famosas y utilizadas han perdido en conjunto casi un 70% de capitalización de mercado en los últimos meses, pero quienes salvaron la ropa han sido justamente las monedas estables. Según una frase popular por estos tiempos y en este lugar del mundo, son las que “aguantan los trapos”.
No deja de ser un dato alentador, lejos de su mejor momento no todos están huyendo de las criptomonedas, algunos continúan confiando y pese a la alta inflación, una unidad de una moneda estable sigue siendo equivalente a un dólar.
