Home Education Curation Collection. 3rd September 2023

It's been a busy week here in the community and I apologise for not getting in daily. I've been a bit under the weather and my brain just wasn't remembering to do what I usually do. 😅 I appreciate all the more the community members who pop in and interact at times like this, so...

First our usual thank you everyone who makes this community what it is. This week 5% beneficiaries for interaction and contribution to the HomeEdders community go to:

@missdeli
@eumelysm
@leomarylm

This week @sumatranate published a post about 5 practical freedoms that homeschooling gives his family. I love how his writing style opens the door for conversation and interaction, especially with his questions to the audience at the end (you can practically recognise from that his role as an educator). It was disappointing to see that there has been no interaction on this post at the time of writing, which needs rectifying, so I'm going to be adding my own comment once this is posted. I hope others join me. 🙂

After reading Nate's post I was quick to see examples of other homeschooling families utilising these freedoms themselves. For example, @taliakerch used her homeschooling freedoms to customise teaching her son multiplication tables in ways that he'd enjoy them rather than have him come to hate them, as she had.

Then @missdeli's son has been learning while having fun on vacation. She didn't bring the games he wanted to play, but not a problem, they could just make their own, which is even better!

Customising learning is something that has probably become second nature to @eumelysm, ever since her son's autism diagnosis. This week she shares an activity to help with primary colour recognition which includes some motor control development practice.

As usual, @leomarylm has been using the freedom to learn creatively in an exploratory way as her girls discover and learn about jungle animals.

Thank you for joining us. This curation was brought to you by @minismallholding and this week I have added @canadian-coconut as 10% beneficiary for the ongoing delegation support. Thank you!

You're welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to think back on this time. I'm just disappointed it didn't get more people adding their thoughts. I'd have love to read through them too.
