Home Education Curation Collection. 20th August 2023

It was lovely to see a busy and active community again! The only down side is that it makes it so much harder for me to choose just 5 posts to highlight. As always, all the contributions were wonderful and informative and it was lovely to see the interaction happening in the comments sections.

First our usual thank you everyone who makes this community what it is. This week 5% beneficiaries for interaction and contribution to the HomeEdders community go to:

@emmaris
@missdeli
@leomarylm
@taliakerch

It's been a while since we heard from @ingridontheroad and this week we got to learn why. Australia is a vast country and home education has been commonplace for a long time, out of necessity. Imagine spending months miles away from anywhere home educating! Well that's exactly what Ingrid has been doing and it was like reading an adventure story. I love how she utilised every learning opportunity she could find there in the outback. She even added some links to useful videos at the end. If you haven't already read it, then I recommend you don't miss out.

Sometimes it almost feels like our HomeEdders are resonating with each other when they post. Someone else who's been utilising the environment around them for learning activities is @trucklife-family. I was wowed by their art work and it struck me that while they aren't in Australia the material and artwork was very reminiscent of the indigenous Australians.

For @romeskie's daughter, their first quarter exam is complete, but it was not an exam as we traditionally see them. Here there are no right or wrong answers, so how does that work? Read on to find out.

For those HomeEdders wishing to teach English as a foreign language @kattycrochet's new project, Happy Learning Kids could be just what you're looking for. I'm really pleased she chose to share this with us.

I'll wrap this week up with a fun subtraction activity from @emmaris. My adult brain loves reusable, but I know my child brain would have loved this more!

Thank you for joining us. This curation was brought to you by @minismallholding and this week I have added @crosheille as 10% beneficiary for the ongoing delegation support. Thank you!

Feels good to be back in the land of the living where internet access is taken for granted 🤣 Thanks for the mention 👍
