Home Education Curation Collection. 16th January 2022

There has been so much great activity and conversation in the community this week that the voting power of the community account has been eaten into the most it's been for a long time! Thank you, to all of you who make this one of my favourite communities. Keep this up and I'll have to start doing a second curation each week!

First our usual thank you everyone who makes this community what it is. This week 5% beneficiaries for interaction and contribution to the HomeEdders community go to:

@mayifiestas
@salvictoria22
@tomaspalomo
@emimoron

There are a multitude of different homeschooling styles which vary according to circumstances, beliefs and ethics. Not all countries allow homeschooling legally, but it doesn't stop parents from having some form of input into their child's educational growth. @edprivat is in a country that has only recently started restricting homeschooling and he shares the challenge that this brought in order to be able to have them learning at home while meeting the legal requirements. They've actually developed an approach that works well for them, combining unschooling with mainstream schooling, showing that varying approaches can actually be combined quite well.

Talking of different learning approaches, the most fun has got to be learning through games and play. I love the look of this domino game to develop mathematical skills from @naimajudith. It incorporates multiple visual stimuli as well.

As homeschooling parents, we are likely more aware than some how well teaching can help you to better understand what you've learnt. She's mentioned it before, but it's good to see an update on how @taliakerch continues to develop her son's education by having him teach what he's learning in addition to his other learning methods.

I'm pleased to welcome @tomaspalomo to the HomeEdders community. He shared some of the challenges the family has faced over these past couple of years with the lockdowns and being thrown into home education as a result. I love that many parents instinctually rise to this challenge, despite their lack of confidence.

There have been so many excellent posts in the community this week, I've realised I'm up to the last slot and there are still so many to choose from. I'd love to share them all here, but seeing as many have already been found by the community, judging by the conversations happening on them, I feel a bit better about not being able to share them all. So I'll direct a slightly lower rewarded post from @mayifiestas, that is no worse than the rest, but unfortunately missed the curation window for the big curators. In it she discusses what our children can reveal to us about themselves or their state of mind through their drawing.

Thanks you to all HomeEdders for this little oasis of a community. It's been a busy week, but it's great to have a supportive place to come back to and wind down. Apologies for missing getting some to curators, but I will always do my best to try and support in other ways.
