The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Genesis 28, Post #4

Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.

Genesis 28:13-14

We are in the middle of one of the most foundational moments in time. The beginning of Jacob's adult life. He is the man who will soon be renamed "Israel" and who will have twelve children, the twelve tribes of Israel.

The blessing was passed from Abraham, to Isaac and now from Isaac to Jacob. Each time the blessing is passed down, The Creator communicates directly to the recipient, and reaffirms His promise for future generations.

This time the promise contains the wording "Like the dust of the earth..."

He also states that his children will be a blessing to all families of the earth. That blessing is the undoing of the first sin in the garden. Proof that the Creator does not give up on humanity.

Today, we prepare for a celebration of the coming of Meshiach, which really happened in the spring, but old habits die hard. The sentiment is correct. The timing is off. The joy is real. This is His day and I will be glad in it.

Today's reading

English

And behold, YHVH stood above it and said, "I am YHVH, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring. Your offspring shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and in you and your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed."
