Genesis 27:5-10

So Isaac tells Esau to go out hunting for some wild game. Rebekah listens and comes up with a plan that will allow Jacob to beat his brother to the punch. She tells him what she heard and quoted Isaac almost exactly except Rebekah adds that Isaac would bless him before God, using his name.

Then she adds instructions for him to go get two lambs of the goats and bring them so she can prepare food. She then says that Jacob will bring the food to his father and get the blessing before Isaac dies. Sounds fool proof, but will they get it done before Esau returns with game?

Now Rebekah was listening when Isaac spoke to his son Esau. So when Esau went to the field to hunt for game and bring it, Rebekah said to her son Jacob, "I heard your father speak to your brother Esau, 'Bring me game and prepare for me delicious food, that I may eat it and bless you before the YHVH before I die.' Now therefore, my son, obey my voice as I command you. Go to the flock and bring me two good young goats, so that I may prepare from them delicious food for your father, such as he loves. And you shall bring it to your father to eat, so that he may bless you before he dies."
