The best artworks created by Arroyo were made by following the technique he called "splendid", which he first studied and perfected in Rome, Italy and developed during his career.
Contemporary life
Arroyo spent the rest of his life in France and married a French woman. In 1964, he moved to Monaco. In 1964 Arroyo died of a heart attack in Cannes, at the age of 89.[2] He is buried in the cemetery of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.
Style
Arroyo's style was influenced by that of his predecessor Gustav Klimt and painter Diego Velázquez. His painting is rich in symbolism, and most of the motifs in his art can be associated with religious figures. Arroyo's paintings can be divided into three groups. The first group is inspired by Byzantine art. His painting has a fine use of color and rich use of gold. The second group has a strong influence of Art Nouveau, the third group is almost all Renaissance.
