My first fully paid drone job! WW2 history!

I was contacted by a person who asked me if I would like to participate in the making of a book! It was a book about a typical type of militarily bunker who were scattered around the Dutch landscape! I immediately know where they were talking about because I always see them and I really never know what kind of bunkers they were!

It are the so called P-bunkers, ore group personnel bunkers! They are shaped like a pyramid to deflect incoming bombs and grenades and they were constructed out of meters thick, reinforced concrete! They were made for the protection of 10 to 13 soldiers who were fighting in the trenches! It was necessary to have a shelter during shelling. The group shelter was a solution for this, in flat and open terrain where there was a lack of good cover and camouflage!

They were located at different strategic locations around the cluster of big city's in the Netherlands, Amsterdam, the Hague, Utrecht and Rotterdam. And were build in the years 1939 - 1940, just before the beginning of the second world war!

But when the war started, the Netherlands capitulated within 5 day's! This because of the Germans had totally destroyed the harbor city of Rotterdam! Within fifteen minutes the German threw 97,000 kilos of bombs on the city center of Rotterdam, destroying it completely!

And because of that, these bunkers were never really used! The Germans tried to destroy one but that proofed to be very difficult so they just let them stand in the fields!

After the war there was no danger any more of the Netherlands to be invaded so they were out of use! And because of the small interior, they couldn't use them for anything ells! And like the Germans try to do, destroying them wasn't an option!

These day's the bunkers are still there and many different local government's made art out of them!

But the one location I want to show you here is standing along the Diefdijk!
They were build there next to the Fort "Everdingen" a big fortification located in front of the city of Utrecht!

Here is a little map where all the locations of these bunkers are on!
In total they made about 570 of them, 499 are still there today!
