Thoughts of a Herbivore. What about Monoculture?

SRC is myself, taken with my Huawei P30 in NZ Auckland.

Have you ever wondered what does the badge vegan mean?
Of course, otherwise we wouldn't call ourselves vegan.
One of the common definition of that word is,
avoiding any use of animals or animal products in all areas of life.
But I find it challenging and ask myself, is that actually possible?
Yes, it is. If you are on your path of doing permaculture and, mostly, live off the grid. Summarising, govern and control all of your consumption. But as soon as you depend on others, how far does your investigation go? Where does your capsicum or almond, or shoes, brush, etc., come from? Which farm, which country? And how do they grow, cultivate, produce? What's their technique and philosophy?
I don't want to open a big and long discussion, but what do you think about

monoculture?

And how to improve a vegan world.

Many harvested plants are from artificial fields, most of them from monoculture.
Monoculture uses fertiliser. What kind of fertiliser is it? Well, most of it comes from livestock. Not only that, it comes from unwell treated livestock. That's neither in a vegan nor in any ethical way. At least, something I do not want to support.
Many years ago, I saw a documentary of fruit and nut forests in monoculture and how the forests need the provision of bees via trucks. Big trucks loaded full of bee hives drive in the centre of a forest and open the hives' gates to pollinate the trees. Bees can't survive in a monoculture forest because a monoculture only blooms once and the bigger it is, the further bees have to travel.
The last idea is about the space. Monoculture farms take a lot of nature's space. This space is actually for many organisms, which bring a natural cycle of life. No natural space, no cycle of life, not vegan.

Nowadays, I observe shops, and producers, who sell water with a vegan badge on them. Water not being vegan? Ok, after researching a moment, I discovered that, for example in some places around India, water is transported via donkeys. Ups, not vegan. Oh, dear!
Another vegan badge is on our new path of fast food and packages. Vegan plastic? Vegan heavily processed food? Ok, here I'd like a real trustworthy badge which bans that and only sticks to sustainability, minimalism and contentment.

"Contentment is above wealth."

I scrutinise my consumption and try to find the best way of my tenets:

  • sustainability and
  • contentment which lead me to
  • happiness

That's why I call myself a herbivore, because vegan seems a bit more difficult as I thought.

What do you think?
Hit me with your thoughts, please.

I summarised some things like permaculture, sustainability and commonwealth economy here on one of my older posts, Plant Your Life, which fit to that topic and provide more information.
Also, it's my first post to this community.
Aloha fellows 👋🏽😊
I hope my first post matches well.

Hi @growandbow

If you read the rules of our community, no photos or texts that are not of your authorship are allowed, so I will mute your post while you edit and replace that photo with one that is of your authorship. You must also indicate which model of smartphone or camera you used to capture it.

On the other hand, as we are in the vegan month, your content can be accepted in the community, although Plant Power Vegan is a mainly gastronomic community.

I hope you will make the suggested changes, and also read the following posts. Thank you.

Aloha @plantpoweronhive,
I see that I haven't understood rule 1 and 5 quite well.
I erased the photo, and changed it to another one. Is that one ok?
About rule 5, besides it is the vegan month, I thought my topic might fit because it has a conjunction to gastronomy as we all need to buy our products to cook. I ask to understand better, but anyway, I'll read through more posts from that community to understand better what's the aimed content.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Maybe because this is the first time you post in this community, you are not familiar with it; however, I know you will feel good here, we always do challenges, usually gastronomic; although we also have challenges related to vegan shopping, and there will be many more to come. Thanks for understanding the rules, but it has been necessary to establish them to guarantee the quality of the posts. I've already removed the silence from your post.

Another great topic to spread and talk about. Of course as individuals we have to find the best way to do the best we can, but I think that we have to spread knowledge.
I remember the first time I heard the word “monoculture” it was around three years ago and I had pokerface, “What is monoculture?”
Now I know, but unfortunately, a big majority of the people I know doesn’t know what does it mean, so still companies don’t feel the urge and pressure to change (Not like our earth and our health that really feel this urge).
Thanks for sharing
