The sea has something magical about it, it is undeniable. Only those who have not lived for long years near its shores can ignore this statement

Those of us who have been fortunate enough to spend many years of our lives contemplating it, suddenly when we are left without that vision, it is as if something is missing. And there we just value it in its proper measure. It is a haven of peace and frankness in the continuous din of everyday life.

El mar tiene algo de mágico, es innegable. Solo quien no ha vivida largos años cerca de sus orillas puede desconocer esta afirmación

Quienes hemos tenido la fortuna de pasar muchos años de nuestra vida contemplándolo, de repente cuando nos quedamos sin esa visión, es como si nos faltara algo. Y ahí recién lo valoramos en su justa medida. Es un remanso de paz y franquilidad en el continuo fragor de la vida cotidiana.

Is my case. I lived more than 20 years in Italy, in Liguria and when you talk about Liguria you talk about the sea. It is inescapable. Poets sing it, the sea is omnipresent in Liguria. It is impossible that any conversation does not end -directly or indirectly- by referring to amr. It is a lifestyle.

We take four steps and we are already on the shore of the sea throughout the entire Ligurian territory. And on the other side is the mountain. Low peaks, those of the Apennines, but mountains nonetheless. And in the middle, like an architectural mosaic in which it is impossible to finish defining the pieces that are embedded in the geography of the multicolored landscape, the cidas appear, coastal towns, mountain towns, multicolored, curious, of incomparable beauty.

Es mi caso. Viví más de 20 años en Italia, en Liguria y cuando se habla de Liguria se habla del mar. Es ineludible. Lo cantan los poetas, el mar es omnipresente en Liguria. Es imposible que cualquier conversación no termine -directa o indirectamente- haciendo referencia al amr. Es un estilo de vida.

Hacemos cuatro pasos y ya estamos en la orila del mar a lo largo de todo el territorio ligure. Y del otro lado estó la montaña. Cimas bajas, las de los Apeninos, pero montañas al fin. Y en el medio como un mosaico arquitectónico en el cual es imposible terminar de definir las piezas que se van encastrando en la geografía del paisaje multicolor, aparecen las cidas, pueblos costeros, pueblos de montaña, multicolores, curiosos, de una belleza incomparable.

Actually its owner was my son but he lived with us for a long time, especially when he had to be absent for work. And it was a good excuse to do those endless walks on the coast of the sea, walking many times with my wife and him barefoot in summer and warm in winter.

Y de repente al regresar a mi país entre la soledad de la llanura pampeana y las estepas patagónicas muchas veces me asalta la melancolía del mar.

En realidad su propietario era mi hijo pero vivía bastante tiempo con nosotros sobre todo cuando él se tenía que ausentar por trabajo. Y era una buena excusa para hacer esas interminables caminatas en la costa del mar, caminando muchas veces con mi esposa y él descalzas en verano y bien abrigados en invierno.

Estas fotos están sacadas en otoño avanzado, casi invierno, cuando las altas cumbres de las montañas ya comienzan a cubrise de nieve.

A veces la nieve llega hasta la orilla del mar pero dura muy poco y se retira de inmediato por el efecto del agua. De cualquier manera es un espectáculo único, asombroso. A veces se suelen desencanedar nevadas muy intensas y en la Liguria con la proximidad que existe entre el mar y la montaña no es demasiado raro verla en la orilla.

In Italy and in Europe in general, there are very strict regulations for walking dogs.

They must always be muzzled if there are people around or at least attached to the collar if there are no people in sight.

And they must always be led by the owner, on a leash and with the bag for collecting faecal waste always at hand.

The fines for non-observance of these rules are very severe and in many cases can amount to up to a week's work for an ordinary employee.

En Italia y en Europa en general hay disposiciones muy severas respecto a la normativa para sacar a pasear los perror.

Siempre tienen que tener el bozal puesto si hay gente cerca o al menos enganchado en el collar si no hay personas a la vista.

Y siempre tienen que ser conducidos por el propietario, con la correa puesta y la bolsita para recoger los residuos fecales siempre a mano.

Las multas por inobservancia de estas normas son muy severas y en muchos casos pueden representar hasta una semana de trabajo de un asalariado común.

Los colores del horizonte son distintos. Más claros al amanecer. De un rojo más oscuro al atardecer en las puestas de sol.

Pero lo maravilloso del espectáculo no cambia. Representa una especie de comunión entre el ser humano (y el perro) con la naturaleza.
