Face-to-Face Encounter for teenagers | An incredible experience

Last Saturday my daughter Italy attended an activity which was called Face to Face, it was intended for the participation of young people from 13 to 16 years old, where they would have motivational talks from professional staff.

I found out about this activity thanks to my daughter's aunt on her father's side, who attends a Christian church, it had a cost 5 dollars, they spent the whole day there from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. The relatives asked us to write some letters and bring some presents to give them a surprise.

I decided to send her a little gift with a message saying how proud we are of her.

El pasado sábado mi hija Italy asistió a una actividad la cual se llamó Cara A Cara, estaba destinado a la participación de jóvenes de 13 a 16 años, donde tendrían charlas motivacionales de parte de personal profesional.

Supe de esa actividad gracias a una tía de mi hija por parte de papá, que asiste a una iglesia cristiana, tuvo un costo de 5 dólares, ahí pasaron todo el día desde las 9:00 am hasta las 6:00 pm. A los familiares nos pidieron que le escribiéramos unas cartas y lleváramos algún presente para darles una sorpresa a ellos.

Yo decidí mandarle a hacer un detallito con un mensaje diciendo lo orgullosos que estamos de ella.

El transporte los pasaría buscando para llevarlos al sitio donde seria la actividad.

She was full of many expectations, as I also had them because none of us knew what topics would be discussed at that meeting, some of her cousins had already attended, but they did not want to give details so that we could enjoy every moment.

Ella iba llena de muchas expectativas, al igual que yo también las tenía, porque ninguna sabía que temas tocarían en ese encuentro, ya unos primos de ella anteriormente habían asistido, pero no quisieron dar detalles para que se disfrutará cada momento.

I told my brother and sister-in-law to accompany me since my mother could not attend because she was indisposed, we arrived there and they kept us outside while the talks were finished, one of the girls in charge arrived and told us to the relatives -They are very moved, at this moment they are reading their letters and tears are rolling around there- because I was a first-time crybaby had not entered and I was already crying.

A nosotros los familiares nos convocaron para estar allá a las 5:00pm, le dije a mi hermano, mi cuñada que me acompañaran , ya que mi mama no pudo asistir porque estaba indispuesta, llegamos allá y nos mantuvieron afuera mientras terminaban las charlas, una de las chicas encargadas llega y nos dice a los familiares -Ellos están muy conmovidos, en este momento están leyendo sus cartas y hay lagrimitas rodando por ahí- pues yo como llorona de primera no había entrado y ya estaba llorando.

A few minutes later they called us to come in quietly and from a distance, we saw them reading their letters with music in the background that made me cry even more. It made me cry even more, at that moment they told them to turn around and tell them that they had their relatives to give them a big hug and that was the most emotional moment of the day, my daughter crying, my brother, my sister-in-law and of course me, my niece very witty asked us "Hey, why are you crying if we are at a party?

A lo pocos minutos nos llamaron para pasar en silencio y desde lejos los vimos ellos estaban leyendo sus cartas con una música de fondo que ¡guao! Me hizo llorar más, en ese momento le dicen a ellos que volteen que tienen a sus familiares para darle un gran abrazo y pues ese fue el momento más emotivo del día , mi hija llorando, mi hermano, mi cuñads y por supuesto yo, mi sobrina muy ocurrente nos pregunta ¿Ey porque lloran si estamos en una fiesta?.

When I got home she told me, these words -Mom I love you, forgive me for the times I made you angry, that I have not fulfilled what I have promised you, I promise I will work on that, and I will stop keeping grudges in my heart- Strong words and coming from a teenager left her shocked in the good sense, I told her -Daughter I believe and trust you- we hugged each other and continued crying.

I was curious to know what the conference was about and she told me that they talked about forgiveness, about the value of the family, and the importance of respect towards parents, about sexuality, and I found it interesting because they were very important topics in these times, and she was left with something because she said those words to me.

Al llegar a casa me dijo, éstas palabras -Mamá te amo, perdoname por las veces que te hecho enojar, que no he cumplido con lo que te he prometido, te prometo que voy a trabajar en eso, y voy a dejar de guardar rencores en mi corazón- Palabras contundentes y viniendo de una adolescente le dejaron impactada en el bue sentido, le dije -Hija creo y confío en ti- nos abrazamos y seguimos llorando.

Me dio curiosidad por saber de que se trató la conferencia y me dijo le hablaron sobre el perdón, sobre el valor de la familia, y la importancia del respeto hacia los padres, sobre la sexualidad, y me pareció interesante porque fueron temas bastante importante en estos tiempos, y sí le quedó algo, porque por algo me dijo esas palabras.

I really was very satisfied, and I was glad that she understood something of what they talked about, I was a mother who must do my best to guide her on the right path, I do not know them all, but I try to give her the tools and the best examples to make her a good person, involving her in this type of activities seems good to me so that she learns from professional people and guided on the path of God which is the most important thing.

I ask God daily to give me wisdom and understanding to guide her, to make her a good woman, I know I can not protect her from the evil that is in the world, but I ask God to keep her away from evil and from whoever wants to do it to her.

Yo de verdad quede muy satisfecha, y me dio gusto que capto algo de lo le hablaron, yo como madre debo en la medida de lo posible hacer lo que este a mi alcance para guiarla por el buen camino, no me las sé todas, pero si trato de darle las herramientas y los mejores ejemplos para hacer de ella una buena persona, involucrarla en este tipo de actividades me parece bien para que aprenda de manos de personas profesionales y guiada en el camino de Dios que es lo más importante.

Pido a Dios diariamente que me de sabiduría y entendimiento para guiarla, para hacer de ella una buena mujer, sé que no puedo protegerla de la maldad que hay en el mundo, pero si le pido a Dios que lo haga que me la aleje del mal y de quien quiera hacerselo.

As long as God allows me I will be there for you - Siempre que Dios me lo permita estaré para ti.
