'ONI3' - New Original Music - More Fun w/ Melodic Steps...
This is another bit of fun
with the Melodic Steps plug-in (seen below). I've really been enjoying playing around with this to create ambient, evolving stuff. Using specifically pad sounds from Strobe2, there is a ton of cool variation that is possible just from the synths themselves. When you add automating parameters for building things up, then the random velocity, octave, length, etc. via Melodic Steps, you can get some really cool stuff. This is 3 tracks, with Tracks 3 and 5 both being random lines from the plug-in. Track 4 is a little chord sequence, pictured above to the right, just to add some variation. I used a sound that swells in and out, and I think it worked out nicely. I just installed Ableton 12 the other day (this is still 11), so once I have some time this weekend to watch some walkthroughs, I'll start sharing ideas using it, as it has some wild new features that should make for a ton of fun.

Looking forward to learning about what you find. I’ve recently upgraded to 12 too and was on the Beta for a little while beforehand. The generative tools are really good.
Yea, I haven't had as much time recently to explore it as I'd like, but I'm planning to spend all of this coming weekend just watching walkthroughs and messing around, hehe. I definitely want to explore the generative stuff, particularly in combo with some external gear, I think based on what I've seen so far, it'll be a ton of fun.
You’ve just given me an idea there to use it with external kit, perhaps Overbridge and my Elektron gear?
Should work totally fine. Pre-Live 12, I've seen a bunch of awesome set-ups with Elektron gear, controlling stuff through Live. So I'm sure you can incorporate all the new goodies into that.
