'DX 2' - New Original Music - A Quick 7 Minute Timed Challenge - Electronic/Instrumental
So I didn't have any ideas last night
and decided to just try a quick timed 'challenge' of 7 minutes, just to see if anything came of it. I also decided to only use the Arturia DX7 demo, which I thought might add another limitation, but actually sort of helped, as I didn't have to waste any time searching for what I wanted to use (VSTs, sound packs, samples, etc). I don't love the results, but it's not bad, and some of the clips are decent and could potentially be useful. I basically outlined a really basic line in Track 3, then added a bass part in Track 4. At that point I was 3 or 4 minutes in, so I started rushing a bit, and added Tracks 1 and 2, which were just additional sounds on top of everything. I thought about putting some drums, and had just started looks through the DX7 presets when the timer ran out, so they didn't get to make an appearance. What I should have done was save all the MIDI clips before recording them to audio tracks (because the DX7 is a demo, I didn't want it to end after closing the session and not be able to find the sounds I had previously used), so I could at least use them with other sounds after the fact... I really need to get in the habit of doing that, as I wind up deleting them, and always regret it haha.
