The One Thing My Silence Almost Gave Away

No one ever told me to insist. Because I grew up and saw how the adults handled things maturely and swallowed their needs very quietly. And I am currently doing some of those things. I have received way less than I deserved from people, circumstances, and even works due to the fact that if I push back, I might sound rude. But what I never realized was that I was confusing patience with surrendering.

And along the way, the changes happened. I once saw someone who didn't even know half of the software I know negotiate and bid for work twice as much as what I do charge. Not pride. Just quit insisting. And later I got to realize that this person knew exactly what was what, and he refused to bow down. That got to me and opened my eyes before I finally got to do something real.

When someone insists on something, it's not the same as being difficult. It just simply means standing on what I believe without any apologies or having second thoughts on compromising. Most people will say for the sake of peace they prefer to let go or stand down as a sign of resistance. But what I have gotten to realize is that I need to keep on trying, and one attempt is not enough. So I need to keep insisting on it until I get it done.
