For today's blog, I will share my Garden visitation at my Grandma's place. My Grandma loves to plant many different kinds of vegetables and not only vegetables and any other kinds of valuable crops but also ornamental and flowering plants. Since when My Grandma was still in her younger age, she already loves to do gardening and collecting many different kinds of vegetables. This kind of activities helps her to do exercises and to eat nutritious foods comes from her Garden. Here in our place, spinach are very popular and well known plants. Most of the people here in the Province are already planted spinach vegetables. This can be very perfect for adding in different kinds of dish just like fish soup and ginataan. It is also good for business and sell to the Market place.

My Grandma loves to eat spinach, and because of that, she was decided to plant more of it in this area. The types of the soil is what we called, Loam Soil. It contains a color black top soil that is perfect for different kinds of vegetables. My Grandma cut those spinach vines into a right measures and planted it in the fertile soil. She did not removed those dry leaves, instead she gathered it and put in the surrounding areas as an organic fertilizer. After a few days, the young spinach leaves was started to come out and she put this bamboo sticks near at the vegetables so that it can easily recognized the exact area of the plants.

Her chilli pepper plants was started to produced chilli pepper and some of it are ready for harvesting. This is very perfect for adding in the soy sauce and make it "Sawsawan" in different kinds of food just like fried fish, fried eggs and fish soup. Chilli pepper is a good kind of appetizers specially when we eat fried foods. This kind of plants can also survived in the heat, but if it to much heat the leaves will also dried and withered.

Last day, my Grandma sold to bunches of lemon grass to the market and she earned 10 HBD of it, that is equivalent to 500 pesos. She was very happy because of the good result behind of her hard works and dedications. This is very important to her to sustain her needs by selling those vegetables. Now, she planned to cultivate and plant more lemon grass on her garden so that she can sell more lemon grass and earned more of it. First, she cultivated the soil and take apart those lemon grass stems and planted it by two's. After a few months, this is the result of her lemon grass and it already produced more leaves and that's the buyer wants to buy.

My Grandma also planted this Guyabano tree and it grows into stable one. Many people loves to eat the fruit from this tree and it can be sell to the market place. She planned to construct a tree guard so that it keeps from the harmful animals just like cows, Carabaos and goats. In a few months, this plant will turn into a big tree and it will produce more fruits on it.

I really amazed of my Grandma's Simple Garden, and I can see the great and fruitful success behind of her hard works and I am really happy about it.

What is the purpose of the bamboo?

The spinach vegetable is tied to the bamboo, and when its growth is stable, it is slowly placed on the ground to grow. One also of the reasons why she put bamboo in it is so that my Grandma will know where the vegetables are planted, because my Grandma's eyes are a bit blurry. ☺️

I think in some places they call kalaboo cuban oregano - and someone gifted it to me as 'mother of herbs', though it died in the frost one year.

Ah yes, Kalabo is also called Oregano. This kind of plant can't survive in a very cold areas. But those branches can be abled to plant indoor just like in the balcony. 😊
