🏴‍☠️ Aye Aye, Captain! ☠️

Water Splinter is rather strong, especially in minor leagues. Alric Stormbringer seems to be overpowered and almost impossible to defeat, until you buy several cards with magic reflect or magic resist. However, Bortus still can match him even though he might be underestimated by many new players. And Pirate Captain is one of the cards you shall use when playing Bortus’ anti-magic pack.

This particular battle had rather low mana cap so I couldn’t use any stronger cards except Djinn Oshannus, which is a must when it comes to defeating Alric Stormbringer. I played this defensive strategy just because I was hundred percent sure my opponent was going to pick the +1 magic set with a bunch of common magic strikers from the starter pack. And he did so.

I was afraid that my opponent could use Djinn Oshannus as well, so I placed Frost Lion in front. Thanks to Void Amor ability, this cheap card can block two magic attacks, one of them is almost always Djinn Oshannus’ as he’s usually the fastest card in a pack. My own Djinn Oshannus was hidden behind him to block all the possible magic attacks later on. He was backed by Crustacean King, a cheap tank heal. Normally, I would use self-healing Water Elemental to tank possible Sneak attacks but I had to opt out for Pirate Captain in the back. 3 HP for 3 mana is quite a good deal, especially when combined with 2 speed and 1 sniping range attack.

As all the opponents attackers ended up with 1 magic attack after the summoners’ buffs and debuffs, this battle was decided even before it started. My opponent couldn’t do me any harm except killing Frost Lion. I didn’t even need any healing, my Djinn Oshannus resisted all the attacks and killed the enemies one by one. Pirate Captain did not do much as his strikes were mainly blocked by the buffed armour.

A nasty and cheap sniper, immune to attack debuffs but vulnerable to speed ones. A great option when backed by Water Elemental behind it. In a well-built pack, it could be used against other Splinters than just Alric Stormbringer.
