Preparing for Exams? What works for me

School is full of fun but the examination period is dreaded by most students, there will be no essence of studying if there is no evaluation conducted to know the level of our understanding of a particular course or subject and also get qualified to move to the next phase.
Examination is dreaded by most students because they probably didn't study for the exams or could not find a suitable studying approach that assimilation gets easier, during my time in school, right from secondary to the university because I can't recall myself preparing for an examination during my primary education, I passed all though, wonders! Haha, I've had to devise different means that makes studying and understanding easy, I remember dipping my legs into a bucket of water, to read for my WAEC (West African Examination Council) then, only to wake up the next morning after having the sweetest and best night sleep apparently, I slept off just few minutes into reading.😅 So that method I heard some people use to stay awake, did the exact opposite for me
Over the years, through the course of my studying, especially in the tertiary institution, trust me you can't survive without studying unless your school is the corrupt type that permits sorting to pass.
What I do

I don't wait until few days or weeks to the exam to start studying intensely, I always made sure to read prior exam periods, making sure to take my personal notes/points in my reading book, which later on helps me to revise with during the exam time.
I had a serious study group, with emphasis on the serious, some students are in school for the fun of just being called students/undergraduates , their motives for being in school is different from what is actually expected of us, so I make sure to not add them to my study group, because their mission is to distract, if it's just 3 of us that are serious, I'm cool with that, we set a reading time table and location were we meet, form quiz amongst ourselves (a question and answer session). Sharing ideas is great way, you might skip what someone else saw, so two heads are better than one on this.
I set personal reading hours depending on my schedule, mostly early hours like 3am -5am, or late evening, this I do, even before the examination periods. I make sure to be determined in keeping to my reading timetable.
I was lucky to be one of the bright students during my days, so my fellow course mates always come to me to help in explaining what we were taught to them, helping them also helped me to be confident in myself, the more I taught, the more I understood better. You know what they say, it sticks harder when you pass on information to others, that also helped me greatly in preparation for my exams.
When preparing for exams, make sure to have food readily available, a hungry stomach will not assimilate anything, so I make sure to feed fine this period.
Lastly, I pray, might look out of the context, but prayers helps me stay calm and confident before, during and after examinations. The little prayer of knowledge, understanding and retentive memory goes a long way, because there are situations whereby what we actually read came out in the exam and no matter how hard you try to remember, you just can't, so I believe it helps me on this.
Studying for examination is easier when you follow what works for you and not what works for others. Discover yourself!

Thank you for reading❤❤

We have quite a lot of things in common and I don't wait for exams as well before reading, this helps me cope with even unexpected test.
Breaking my reading time in to smaller units helps me assimilate better and it has worked for me since junior school.
I don't get too confident with exams so I ensure that I pray after writing my exams.
I never tried dipping my legs in water because I don´t think it will work for me. Since I can stay up into the night and do what I have to do, that is fine by me.
I love the idea of group reading. While reading, you might skip some parts and doing revision among yourselves will spot that particular place you haven´t read out. This is why they say two correct heads are better than one 🤣
Lastly, you are right that when one teaches or gives information on a particular topic, it sticks to one´s brain and you can never forget that.
Why does it look like we are twins on this case 😊. You see, my study groups in school dose days are still my close friends till date. This is was one of my secret to passing my papers without any single carry over in my university level. Joting down points, praying, studying early hours were my routine
It worked wonders for me dear
