A few days ago I was able to see something interesting and that I could only understand 6 months after coming to Colombia, which has taught me a lot regarding the opportunities that we can have and that we are possibly afraid to take because of ignorance, since in my personal case, I always had the opportunity, but I never wanted to do it until I saw that it was possible because someone else told me it was possible.

What happens is that I have my bank account in the United States, and this means that I have a debit card associated to my bank account with which I can withdraw cash and I can also pay for different products, but there is a difference between what I can pay with the card physically and what I can pay with my card through the internet.

Because the legal currency in Colombia is the Colombian peso, I must pay in Colombian pesos, not in US dollars, so I was forced to withdraw cash from ATMs to pay for different things, and this is associated with a tax of 5% on the value extracted, which is added to a 3% commission by the bank when I pay with the card in a physical point (in total is 8% increase on the price), while when I pay with the card in a digital business, they only charge me 3% exchange rate).

It is logical to think that it is better to pay everything online, and it is true, but the reality is that it is something that I could know a few days ago because I was watching an American Youtuber who lives in Colombia and does not make payments in physical stores, but buys everything through different applications, and the reason why I could understand was because I myself saw that they charge less when we pay this way.

I am not complaining about what I have spent in these last months because it is something I did not know, and this is the reason why experiences make us better, but I must also say that my consumption patterns will change a lot in the next months because there is something I know that I did not know before, being that now I see that I have to buy everything I can virtually.

It is interesting how we miss opportunities or make our life more difficult by not knowing a better way to do things, even when we have everything to make our life easier, and that is the reason why it is good to see the experiences of others, as we can learn better ways to run our day to day life that we did not know could exist under our noses.

Hace pocos dias pude ver algo interesante y que solo pude entender 6 meses luego de haber venido a Colombia, lo cual me ha enseñado mucho con respecto a las oportunidades que podemos tener y que posiblemente tengamos miedo de tomar por desconocimiento, ya que en mi caso personal, siempre tuve la oportunidad, pero nunca quise hacerlo hasta que vi que era posible porque otra persona me dijo que era posible.

Lo que ocurre es que tengo mi cuenta bancaria en Estados Unidos, y esto significa que tengo una tarjeta de débito asociada a mi cuenta bancaria con la que puedo sacar efectivo y tambien puedo pagar diferentes productos, pero hay que hacer una diferencia entre lo que puedo pagar con la tarjeta de forma fisica y lo que puedo pagar con mi tarjeta a traves de internet.

Es logico pensar que es mejor pagar todo por internet, y es cierto, pero la realidad es que es algo que pude conocer hace pocos dias debido a que estaba viendo un Youtuber americado que vive en Colombia y que no hace pagos en tiendas fisicas, sino que lo compra todo a traves de diferentes aplicaciones, y la razon por la que pude entender fue porque yo mismo vi que cobran menos cuando pagamos de esta manera.

No me quejo de lo qe he gastado en estos ultimos meses porque es algo que no sabia, y esta es la razon por la que las experiencias hacen que seamos mejores, pero también debno decir que mis patrones de consumo cambiaran mucho en los proximos meses debido a que hay algo que se y que no sabía antes, siendo que ahora veo que tengo que comprar todo lo que pueda de forma virtual.

Es interesante cómo perdemos oportunidades o hacemos nuestra vida más dificil por no saber una mejor manera de hacer las cosas, aun cuando tenemos todo para hacer nuestra vida más fácil, y es la razon por la que es bueno ver las experiencias de los demás, ya que podemos aprender mejores maneras de llevar nuestro dia a dia y que no sabiamos que podrian existir bajo nuestras narices.
