I am a lover of cryptocurrencies because they have given the opportunity to many people and in many ways, being a way to pay when governments have strong exchange controls, but also through the opportunity to develop a company in a market that is being born, also because we can do things that the known institutions do not let us (banks).

But I must also say that there is a negative side of this and it refers mainly to people who take advantage of the name of something innovative to demand large amounts of money in exchange for something of low quality, just because they can put the name of a new technology that gives a small benefit compared to the traditional.

Specifically I want to refer to an example that I could see today in a game that I have known for 16 years, and is that currently I see that an external server has been created (not from the company, but external people) that offers a plagiarism of the game that has more than 20 years in operation and has a solid company.

What happens is that this game is a free to play and the account with all the benefits costs 12$ monthly, while the game called "Tibia NFT" (which only has NFT as a real difference) charges 460$ for an account with all the benefits on a monthly basis, and this is when we see what is the reality of several games, and is that they are competing with other companies and games (products) of great quality at lower prices, so the new ones plan to charge more for the simple fact of having something based on the blockchain, either a NFT or some fungible token.

I must also say that "Tibia NFT" is not creating something different than having a token on the blockchain, since in the traditional game there is something called "Tibia Coin" since about 1 decade ago, and with which you can do everything in the game, but also sell it for Fiat money, so we see that Tibia NFT wants to charge 40 times more for the fact of having the Blockchain technology, but at the moment of truth, they can close the server and leave people with a useless "Shitcoin" because there is no game where to use it.

This is not the only example we can find, and it is something I really regret for those who have invested hoping to make a lot of money and what happens is a scam because they take all the money or because people realize that paying $100 for something that costs $5 somewhere else is losing the money, so the ponzi scheme falls down at some point.

We can't let the mere name or a new technology that barely gives a small but superior benefit compared to the traditional charge us 10 times more than the previous technology, because this is simply not worth the price they charge, and it is giving our money to opportunists.

Certainly there are good benefits of blockchain, there are also good companies that do something disruptive, but there are also those who try to take advantage of the FOMO for the new technology to charge much more than what they offer, and we must not fall for this scam, either with this new technology or with any other that we see in the future.

Soy un amante de las criptomonedas debido a que han dado la oportunidad a muhcas personas y de muchas maneras, siendo una manera de pagar cuando los gobiernos tienen controles de cambio fuertes, pero también a traves de la oportunidad que se tiene de desarrollar una empresa en un mercado que está naciendo, también porque podemos hacer cosas que las instituciones conocidas no nos dejan (bancos).

Pero también debo decir que existe un lado negativo de esto y se refiere principalmente a las personas que se aprovechan del nombre de algo innovador para exigir grandes cantidades de dinero a cambio de algo de baja calidad, solo por el hecho de que pueden colocarle el nombre de una nueva tecnologia que da un pequeño beneficios en comparación con lo tradicional.

Específicamente me quiero referir a un ejemplo qe pude ver hoy en un juego que he conocido desde hace 16 años, y es que actualmente veo que se ha creado un servidor externo (no es de la empresa, sino personas externas) que ofrece un plagio del juego que tiene más de 20 años en funcionamiento y tiene una empresa sólida.

Lo que ocurre es que este juego es freemium y la cuenta con todos los beneficios cuesta 12$ mensuales, mientras que el juego llamado “Tibia NFT” (que solo tiene NFT como diferencia real) cobra 460$ para una cuenta con todos los beneficios de forma mensual, y es aquí cuando vemos cual es la realidad de varios juegos, y es que están compitiendo con otras empresas y juegos (productos) de gran calidad a precios más bajos, por lo que los nuevos planean cobrar más por el simple hecho de tener algo basado en la blockchain, ya sea un NFT o algun token fungible.

También debo decir que “Tibia NFT” no esta creando algo diferentre a tener un token en la blockchain, ya que en el juego tradicional existe algo llamado “Tibia Coin” desde hace 1 decada aproximadamente, y con lo cual se puede hacer de todo en el juego, pero también venderlo por dinero Fiat, por lo que vemos que Tibia NFT quiere cobrar 40 veces más por el hecho de tener la tecnologia Blockchain, pero que al momento de la verdad, pueden cerrar el servidor y dejar a las personas con una “Shitcoin” inservible porque no existe un juego donde usarlo.

Este no es el unico ejemplo que podemos encontrar, y es algo que realmente lamento por aquellos que han invertido con la esperanza de ganar mucho dinero y lo que ocurre es una estafa porque se llevan todo el dinero o porque las personas se dan cuenta que pagar 100$ por algo que cuesta 5$ en otro lugar es perder el dinero, por lo que el esquema ponzi se cae en algun momento.

No podemos dejar que el simple nombre o que una tecnologia nueva que apenas da un beneficio pequeño pero superior en comparación con lo tradicional nos cobra 10 veces más que la tecnologia anterior, porque esto simplemente no vale el precio que cobran, y es darle nuestro dinero a oportunistas.

Ciertamente hay buenos beneficios de la blockchain, también hay empresas buenas y que hacen algo disruptivo, pero también hay quienes intenta aprovechar el FOMO por la nueva tecnologia para cobrar mucho mas que lo que ofrecen, y no debemos caer en esta estafa, ya sea con esta nueva tecnologia o con alguna otra que veamos en el futuro.
