Family reunion, after 10 years we see each other again. /Reencuentro familiar, después de 10 años nos volvemos a ver.

A happy new year to everyone in this beautiful community full of love and kindness, every beginning of the year is a new opportunity to rethink goals and value what we still have, that is why this 2022 I want to start it by reuniting with those relatives that for different reasons we have moved away, despite the technology it is not the same to see them and feel close to them, so this is my first step towards that great adventure to reunite with my loved ones.

Un feliz año nuevo para todos en esta hermosa comunidad lleno de amor y bondad, cada comienzo de año es una nueva oportunidad para replantearnos metas y valorar lo que aún tenemos es por ello que este 2022 quiero comenzarlo por reencontrarme con aquellos familiares que por diferentes causas nos hemos alejado, a pesar de la tecnología no es igual poder verles y sentirte cerca de ellos, así es este es mi primer paso hacia esa gran aventura reencontrarme con mis seres queridos.

Today I want to introduce you to my uncle Pablo, he was the one who spoiled me the most as a child, with him I learned to love the countryside, I spent part of my vacations with his little family, I remember that on some occasions we would go on a picnic to contemplate the sunset, the birds singing and see the starry sky.

Hoy quiero presentarles a mi tío Pablo, él fue quien más me consentía de niña, con él aprendí a amar el campo, parte de mis vacaciones las pasaba junto a su pequeña familia, recuerdo que en algunas oportunidades nos íbamos de día de campo a contemplar el atardecer, el canto de los pájaros y ver el cielo estrellado.

Twelve years ago he had an accident in which he suffered a fractured femur and although everything possible was done for his recovery, he lost part of the bone and since then he was one-legged, at that time for reasons I never knew his family disintegrated and he threw himself into abandonment, until the time of that accident that a family friend recognized him and told the family, it was then when he could be provided assistance.
However after healing, he again withdrew from the family decided to go to a Christian retreat center but did not allow the family to know where he was, only my oldest aunt knew where he was and it was through her that we could know about him, after three years of inner struggle he managed to recover from his internal wounds and forgive himself for his mistakes and failures, when my grandmother died in 2016 we thought he would come but he did not.
As much as we tried to get my aunt to tell us where he was he would not let her, until the death of my mother in May last year he decided to get back in touch with some relatives, the first one he contacted was my older brother and gave him the address of where he lived, my brother visited him and saw that he lived humbly in a farm that for other people's reasons is almost abandoned.

Hacen 12 años él tuvo un accidente en el cual sufrió fractura en el fémur y a pesar que se hizo todo lo posible por su recuperación, perdió parte del hueso y desde entonces quedo manco de una pierna, en ese entonces por asuntos que nunca supe su familia se desintegró y él se lanzo al abandono, hasta el momento de ese accidente que un amigo de familia le reconoció y avisó a la familia, fue entonces cuando se le pudo prestar auxiliar.

Sin embargo después de sanar, él se volvió a retirar de la familia decidió irse a un centro de retiro cristiano pero no permitió que la familia supiera en donde quedaba, solo mi tía mayor sabía donde quedaba y era por medio de ella que podíamos saber de él, después de tres años de lucha interior él logró recuperarse de sus heridas internas y perdonarse a sí mismo por sus errores y fracasos, cuando murió mi abuela en el 2016 pensábamos que él vendría pero no fue así.

Por mucho que tratamos que mi tía nos dijera dónde estaba él no se lo permitía, hasta la muerte de mi madre en mayo del año pasado que él decidió volver a estar en contacto con algunos familiares, al primero que contactó fue a mi hermano mayor y le dio la dirección de donde vivía, mi hermano le visitó y vio que vivía humildemente en una finca que por razones ajenas esta casi abandonada.

In December my brother visited him again and among several relatives we sent him clothes, food and shoes, it was there where after 10 years I heard his voice again through a call with my brother's cell phone and he told us that whenever we wanted we could go.
I did not think twice because we had to wait for my husband to have a day off to go, so early on Monday we went to El Cambur sector where he lives, first we went to my oldest aunt who also had more than two years without seeing her, we shared a while with her and then we went for my brother, who is the one who knew how to get there.

En diciembre mi hermano le visitó nuevamente y entre varios familiares le mandamos ropa, alimentos y calzados, fue allí donde después de 10 años volví a escuchar su voz por medio de una llamada con el celular de mi hermano y nos dijo que cuando quisiéramos podíamos ir.

No lo pensé dos veces por motivo de traslado teníamos que esperar que mi esposo tuviera un día libre para poder ir, fue así que este lunes bien temprano salimos rumbo a El cambur sector donde él vive, primero pasamos por donde mi tía mayor a quien también tenía más de dos años sin verla compartimos un rato con ella y luego fuimos por mi hermano, que es quien sabía cómo llegar hasta allá.

The weather was cold that day, the road is mountainous, I could contemplate the beauty of that landscape full of mountains and fresh air, after 45 minutes of road we arrived, the entrance was full of mountains, we could only see the passage of sand where the wheels of the vehicles pass, the house where he lives was a center of Christian meetings and functions as a retreat center.

El clima estaba frió ese día el camino es montañoso, pude contemplar lo hermoso de ese paisaje lleno de montañas y aire puro, después de 45 minutos de camino pudimos llegar la entrada estaba llena de monte solo se veía el paso de arena por donde pasan las ruedas de los vehículos, la casa donde vive fue un centro de reuniones cristianas y funciona como centro de retiro.

When I saw him I felt very excited to be able to hug him again, there were many mixed feelings of joy, tears, pain, after giving him some things that we had brought him we sat down to remember old anecdotes from my childhood, he told us how that place was before the pandemic at that time it was planted with various vegetables and tubers, but because of the pandemic the people who work the land with him when they sold the harvest did not want to invest again but chose to emigrate from the country.

Al verle sentí mucha emoción por poder abrazarle nuevamente, fueron muchos los sentimientos encontrados alegría, llanto, dolor, luego de entregarle algunas cosas que le llevábamos nos sentamos a recordar viejas anécdotas de mi infancia, nos contó de cómo era ese sitio ante de la pandemia en ese entonces estaba sembrado de varias hortalizas y tubérculos, pero a raíz de la pandemia las personas que trabajan con él la tierra al vender la cosecha no quisieron volver a invertir sino que optaron por emigrar del país.

In these conditions he alone could not take care of the general maintenance of it, especially because the water is taken from a well of a nearby river but in January 2021 the pastor who owns the land took a staff to work and one of them took advantage while my uncle was in the cleaning work to prepare the land for planting stole the pump with which they pumped water from the river.
At the moment the land is full of bush and he can only harvest a little because of his leg problem, however he tries to harvest as much as possible for his sustenance. While we were with him there we took advantage of the time to clean the house a little, my husband repaired an electric snail, my brother took the opportunity to fix an electrical installation and then he checked a fan, he also took the opportunity to clean a little around the house.

En estas condiciones él solo no se podía hacerse cargo del mantenimiento general de la misma, sobre todo porque el agua la llevan desde un pozo de un rio cercano pero en enero del 2021 el pastor dueño del terreno llevo un personal a trabajar y unos de ellos aprovecho mientras mi tío estaba en la faena de limpieza para preparar el terreno para sembrar le robaron la bomba con la que bombeaban el agua desde dicho rio.

En estos momentos el terreno está lleno de monte y es poco lo que él solo puede cosechar, por su problema en la pierna sin embargo trata de cosechar lo posible para su sustento, mientras estuvimos con él allí se aprovecho el tiempo para asearle un poco la casa, mi esposo le reparo un caracol eléctrico, mi hermano aprovecho para arreglar una instalación eléctrica y luego le reviso un ventilador, también se aprovecho de limpiar un poco alrededor de la casa.

Then my husband, brother and cousin went to visualize the land in order to plan a day of service to go and clean the land as much as possible and see how the water problem can be solved.

Luego mi esposo, hermano y primo fueron a visualizar el terreno para poder planificar una jornada de servicio para ir a limpiarle lo máximo que se pueda el terreno y ver como se le puede solucionar el problema del agua.

My uncle lives there alone with two pets, Maya and Nero, who are his daily companions, and we agreed to return soon so that we could clean up the nearby weeds so that he could plant at least in the closest part and so that he could meet my nephews and nieces. That day we remembered how precious family is and that no matter how many misunderstandings occur we should not allow that to take us away from the ones we love.

Mi tío vive allí solo con dos mascota Maya y Nerón, quienes son sus compañeros de faena cada día, quedamos en volver pronto para poder hacer una jornada de limpieza de la maleza cercana para que él pueda sembrar al menos en la parte más cercana y que él pueda conocer a mis sobrinos. Ese día recordamos la valioso que es la familia y que por más malos entendidos que ocurran no debemos permitir que eso nos aleje de los seres que amamos.
