An adventurous Saturday at Bentura's house.(Eng/Esp)

Greetings my dear friends this weekend we had the opportunity to visit a very dear friend my old friend Bentura so I call him by affection with his dear family, I have known them for 15 years now in February, since then I adopted him as a father to me, his daughter and I are contemporaries only 4 days apart and between all of us there is a nice friendship.

Saludos mis queridos amigos este fin de semana tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar a un muy querido amigo mi viejo Bentura así le digo de cariño junto a su querida familia, les conozco desde hacen 15 años ahorita en febrero, desde ese entonces lo adopté como un padre para mí, su hija y yo somos contemporáneas solo nos llevamos 4 días de diferencia y entre todos ahí una linda amistad.

Before the pandemic his house was a meeting place to play dominoes and cards, or to make a delicious sancocho, I remember that in those days it was very common to carry out this type of activities among the brothers of our church, each one brought something to collaborate and we enjoyed dances, music and games, those were times that we must recover.

As a result of the pandemic our visits to them were from the sidewalk outside their house and very short, either to know about their condition or to bring them food or medicine, but to protect their health since he is 75 years old and his wife Josefina is 83 years old and she suffers from a lung disease for many years ago, so as far as possible we were always aware of them but maintaining the proper biosecurity measures.

Antes de la pandemia su casa era un lugar de encuentro para jugar domino y cartas, o para hacer un rico sancocho, recuerdo que en esos días era muy común el realizar este tipo de actividades entre los hermanos de nuestra Iglesia, cada quien llevaba algo para colaborar y disfrutábamos de bailes, música y juegos, fueron tiempos que debemos recuperar.

A raíz de la pandemia nuestras visitas a ellos eran desde la acera fuera de su casa y muy cortas, ya fuese para saber de su estado o llevarles alimentos o medicinas, pero por resguardarles de salud ya que él tiene 75 años y su esposa Josefina 83 años ella padece de una enfermedad pulmonar desde hacen muchos años atrás, por ello en lo posible siempre estábamos al pendiente de ellos pero manteniendo las debidas medidas de bioseguridad.

This weekend we took some time to share a little more with them and get to know their small plot of land, that afternoon the breeze was very nice and it was pleasant to be able to visit their crops, he likes to cultivate the land, he is a man of the field, but due to the lack of water in his community it was a little difficult this year to start planting, for the moment we were able to visit his sugar cane plantation.

Más este fin de semana nos dimos un tiempo para compartir un poco más con ellos y conocer su pequeño terreno, esa tarde estaba muy rica la brisa y resulto agradable poder recorrer su siembra, a él gusta cultivar la tierra es un hombre del campo, pero a raíz de la falta de agua en su comunidad se la hacho un poco difícil este año comenzar a sembrar, por los momentos pudimos recorrer su siembra de caña de azúcar.

He also had a crop of quinchoncho and beans, most of the crops had already been harvested in December.
También tenía una cosecha de quinchoncho y frijol, la mayor cantidad de la cosechas ya la había recogido en diciembre.

A fruit that is very tasty in his land is the papaya and the blessing is that almost all year he has them, at Easter and December he provides them for the sweets that we share as part of the family tradition.

Una fruta que se da muy sabrosa en su tierra es la papaya y la bendición es que casi todo el año cuenta con ellas, en semana santa y diciembre él nos las provee para los dulces que compartimos como parte de la tradición familiar.

We were also able to see a variety of bananas, he told us that due to the lack of water all the eggplant crops dried up. In the other part of the land that due to time constraints we were not able to visit, he has a pumpkin plantation, from which we have eaten many creams and some cakes and quesillos.

También pudimos ver una variedad de cambures y plátanos, nos contó que a raíz de la escases de agua toda la siembra de berenjena se le secó. En la otra parte del terreno que por cuestión de tiempo no pudimos recorrer tiene una siembra de zapallo, de la cual hemos comido muchas cremas y algunas tortas y quesillos.

Something that characterizes him a lot is that when it is harvest time he invites his friends and brothers of the Church to go with him to collect the harvest and that everyone takes a little bit, he says that the Lord blesses him and the land when he shares the fruits of his sweat, that is why he has earned a place in every heart of those who know him.

His wife and daughters love to grow beautiful flowers, they always have some new ones and at other times they give them away to plant new ones, they as a family have a great gift of detachment from material things, because they know that their true treasure is built in heaven.

Algo que lo caracteriza mucho a él es que cuando es el tiempo de cosechar invita a sus amigos y hermanos de la Iglesia a ir junto a él a recoger la cosecha y que cada quien lleve un poquito, él dice que el Señor le bendice tanto a él como a la tierra cuando comparte los frutos de su sudor, es por ello que él se ha ganado un lugar en cada corazón de quien le conoce.

A su esposa e hijas les encanta cultivar hermosas flores, siempre tienen alguna nueva y en otras ocasiones las regalan para sembrar otras nuevas, ellos como familia tiene un gran don de desprendimiento de las cosas materiales, porque saben que su verdadero tesoro se construye en los cielos.

At this moment they are preparing the land to sow oregano, eggplant, sweet bell pepper, paprika and tomato again. After walking around their land for a while, we sat down to share with their family, we remembered old times and we rejoiced to see that in spite of the health and economic situation of the country we can still continue fighting to keep us on the path that the Lord sent us.

En estos momentos está preparando el terreno para sembrar de nuevo orégano, berenjena, ají dulce, pimentón y tomate, después de recorrer un rato su terreno, nos sentamos un rato de compartir con su familia, recordamos viejos tiempos nos regocijamos en ver que a pesar de la situación de salud y económica del país aún podemos seguir luchando por mantenernos en la senda que el Señor nos mandó.

Then they showed us their new pets that were only a few days old when they were found in the field while I was cleaning some beautiful morrocoyes, he has to keep them in a basket because as they are very small they go over the fence to where the older pet is a beautiful and brave dog, that when he smells them he thinks about what will be his next dessert.

Luego nos mostraron a sus nuevas mascotas que solo tenían algunos días de haberlas encontrado en el terreno mientras lo limpiaba unos hermosos morrocoyes, tiene que tenerlos en una cesta porque como son muy pequeños se pasan por la cerca hacia donde está la mascota mayor un hermoso y bravo perro, que cuando las huele piense en cuál será su siguiente postre.

Once the night has arrived and after enjoying a delicious passion fruit juice, we say goodbye to them and return home to prepare everything necessary to attend our Sunday meetings in our chapel.
