Hello to all my friends of this great maternity community, it is a pleasure for me to be able to write about the anecdotes that we experience day by day as parents.

Tengo mucho tiempo pensando sobre un tema la cual escribir y que por alguna razón me he detenido por la tristeza que me embarga cada vez que pienso en el.

I have been thinking for a long time about a topic to write about and for some reason I have stopped because of the sadness that overwhelms me every time I think about it.

Hay situaciones que nos acostumbramos a ver y llegan a formar parte de nuestra cotidianidad, Y qué puede ser que como sociedad hasta lo lleguemos a normalizar, sin embargo no significa que estén bien.

There are situations that we get used to seeing and become part of our daily lives, and what may be that as a society we even get to normalize it, however it does not mean that they are right.

Tal es el caso del trabajo infantil en Venezuela.

Such is the case of child labor in Venezuela.

Today there are thousands and I can say even millions of children who dedicate themselves not only in Venezuela, but all over the world, to perform any economic activity in order to obtain remuneration.

Antes de comenzar a hablar un poco del trabajo infantil les presentaré a unos amiguitos que tengo.

Before I start talking a little bit about child labor, I will introduce you to some friends of mine.

Ellos son cuatro niños que aunque no son mis hijos me duelen muchísimo, son parte de la comunidad y son niños que la pobreza y la crisis los ha envuelto de tal manera que han crecido en medio de las carencias de todo tipo y qué día a día buscan la forma de ayudar en sus casas, Para aportar aunque sea un plato de comida.

They are four children that although they are not my children, they hurt me very much, they are part of the community and they are children that poverty and the crisis have involved them in such a way that they have grown up in the midst of shortages of all kinds and that day by day they look for ways to help in their homes, to contribute even a plate of food.

Ellos son buenos niños y es increíble como Veo pasar su infancia, en medio de la precariedad.

They are good children and it is incredible how I see them spend their childhood, in the midst of precariousness.

Hacen de todo en la comunidad, van por las casas pidiendo para ayudar a botar basura , los más grandes a veces lo ves realizando trabajos de construcción, muchas veces los veo recogiendo chatarra para poder vender, Y así cualquier tipo de trabajo con tal de que le puedan dar un plato de comida o les ayuden con algo para llevar a su casa.

They do everything in the community, they go around the houses asking to help throw garbage, the older ones sometimes you see them doing construction work, many times I see them collecting scrap metal to be able to sell, and any kind of work as long as they can get a plate of food or help them with something to take home.

Conozco a cada uno de ellos individualmente y desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande , la edad va desde los 4 años hasta los 9 años.

I know each of them individually and from the youngest to the oldest, ranging in age from 4 years old to 9 years old.

Ellos estudian a medias , porque hemos tratado de que no abandonen los estudios, les ayudamos en lo que podemos.

They study half-heartedly because we have tried to keep them from dropping out of school; we help them as much as we can.

Y yo trato de que cada vez que tengo oportunidad me siento a conversar con ellos y a motivarlos a entender de que tienen que salir de esa pobreza mental y de espíritu en la cual han nacido, que en la única forma real de ayudar a sus padres y de cortar las cadenas de patrones que se han venido repitiendo a través de los años, es estudiando y entendiendo de que con la fuerza de voluntad pueden lograr todo lo que se propongan.

And I try every time I have the opportunity to sit down and talk with them and motivate them to understand that they have to get out of that poverty of mind and spirit in which they were born, that the only real way to help their parents and to cut the chains of patterns that have been repeated over the years, is by studying and understanding that with willpower they can achieve everything they set their minds to.

Y ustedes se preguntarán Dónde están los padres de esos niños ?

And you may wonder where are the parents of these children?

Los padres de esos niños viven con ellos, cada uno de ellos tiene su papá y mamá. Pero son personas que los vicios han consumido, y que tienen tal cantidad de niños que no dan abasto para cubrir sus necesidades.
Son personas que la pobreza mental en ellos es mayor que la misma necesidad.

The parents of these children live with them, each one of them has a father and a mother. But they are people who have been consumed by their vices, and who have such a large number of children that they are unable to cover their needs.They are people whose mental poverty is greater than the need itself.

Increíble pensarlo pero el mayor de ellos su mamá es maestra en un preescolar, ella tiene 7 niños más dos nietos que está criando, porque sus hijas decidieron dejárselos a pesar de la situación de miseria en la cual viven.

Unbelievable to think about it but the oldest of them, his mother is a teacher in a preschool, she has 7 children plus two grandchildren that she is raising, because her daughters decided to leave them to her in spite of the situation of misery in which they live.

Entonces detrás de todo esto hay una problemática enorme donde coexisten la falta de educación, la miseria mental y de espíritu , la falta de oportunidades , la problemática existente en el país a nivel económico, la alta inflación,
donde Aquellas personas que son pobres se vuelven aun más pobres.

So behind all this there is a huge problem where the lack of education, mental and spiritual misery, the lack of opportunities, the existing problems in the country at the economic level, the high inflation coexist, where those who are poor become even poorer.

The crisis in the country has forced many children to become providers for their families.

Esto va más allá de solamente hacer algún trabajo, hay niños que llegan hasta ser explotados sexualmente por la manipulación de adultos inescrupulosos, tomando ventaja sobre su situación precaria.

And this goes beyond just doing some work, there are children who are even sexually exploited through the manipulation of unscrupulous adults, taking advantage of their precarious situation.

Las leyes que protegen a los niños en Venezuela determinan que ningun niño menor de 14 años deberia realizar ninguna actividad laboral que interrumpa su proceso de formacion educativo y su desarrollo integral .

The laws that protect children in Venezuela determine that no pchild under 14 years of age should perform any labor activity that interrupts their educational formation process and their integral development.

Pero dicha ley en el pais no se cumple en absoluto , Si fuera asi , no se observará en los autobuses de la ciudad toda clase de niños vendiendo cualquier cantidad de productos, y a veces lo hacen hasta con sus padres acompañandolos.

But this law is not enforced at all in the country, if it were so, you would not see in the city buses all kinds of children selling any amount of products, and sometimes they even do it with their parents accompanying them.

Los mercados públicos están abarrotados de niños en esta situación.

Public markets are crowded with children in this situation.

Y allí es que uno se pregunta dónde están las leyes ?

And that's when one wonders where are the laws ?

Cada niño que está trabajando en vez de estar estudiando , se ve expuesto de una manera exponencial a sumarse a parte de la delincuencia , porque la mayoría no tiene padres que los guíen de la manera correcta, tambien pasan a ser presa fácil de mafias organizadas para explotación infantil.

Every child who is working instead of studying, is exposed in an exponential way to join the delinquency, because most of them do not have parents to guide them in the right way, they also become easy prey for organized mafias for child exploitation.

Los niños tienen derecho a ser felices y digo esto con un nudo en la garganta porque realmente tienen derecho a ser niños, a jugar ,a estudiar ,a desarrollarse, a que sus problemas no sean lo que van a comer por el día es demasiado peso para un niño.

Children have the right to be happy and I say this with a lump in my throat because they really have the right to be children, to play, to study, to develop, that their problems are not what they are going to eat for the day is too much weight for a child.

Cómo podemos ayudarlos realmente

?

Cuándo nos enfrentamos a la Triste realidad de ver niños que probablemente no haya comido nada en el día y que están buscando el sustento para llevar a sus casas Lo más probable es que pensemos que con un plato de comida podamos satisfacer sus necesidades inmediatas , Pero no es así. Y esta bien que le demos si esta en nuestras posibilidades pero para mí solamente eso no es suficiente , creo que la mejor manera de ayudarlos es poder incentivarlos y hacerles entender de que no deben dejar de estudiar ,qué es la única manera que sus oportunidades aumenten y que puedan cambiar su visión de vida. He podido pedir ayuda a toda clase de organizaciones para poderles conseguir ropa y algo de comida pero el trabajo de una sola persona nunca es suficiente , Espero poder en la medida de mis posibilidades hacer más por ellos. Y sobre todo Espero que todo lo que les digo y converso con ellos puedan ayudarle a formarse como hombres de bien y que puedan cortar las cadenas de miseria a la cual están atados.

When we are faced with the sad reality of seeing children who probably have not eaten anything during the day and are looking for sustenance to take home, we probably think that with a plate of food we can satisfy their immediate needs, but it is not so. I believe that the best way to help them is to encourage them and make them understand that they should not stop studying, which is the only way to increase their opportunities and change their vision of life. I have been able to ask for help from all kinds of organizations to get them clothes and some food but the work of one person is never enough, I hope to be able to do more for them as far as I can. And above all I hope that everything I tell them and talk to them can help them to form themselves as good men and that they can cut the chains of misery to which they are tied.

Para terminar les cuento una experiencia, que vivimos con uno de ellos. Mi esposo y yo estamos lavando el carro en la parte afuera de nuestra casa y enseguida al vernos se acerca el mayor de ellos y sin decirnos nada empieza a lavarlo con nosotros, y nosotros entendimos rápidamente que probablemente él no había comido en todo el día, así que fui rápido a conseguirle algo y cuando se lo entregué el lo único que me preguntó era que si podía llevarlo a su casa porque sus hermanitos no habían comido.

Finally, I will tell you about an experience we had with one of them. My husband and I were washing the car outside our house and immediately upon seeing us, the oldest of them approached us and without saying anything, he started to wash it with us, and we quickly understood that he probably had not eaten all day, so I quickly went to get him something and when I gave it to him, the only thing he asked me was if I could take him home because his little brothers had not eaten.

Esto es demasiado peso para un niño esto no debe ocurrir pero ocurre con más frecuencia de la que nos podemos imaginar Espero que las leyes en el país se aboquen a brindar oportunidades de Progreso , a velar por realmente los más necesitados a entender que en la medida que nos preocupamos por esos niños estamos brindándole un futuro, que de otra manera no seria posible.

This is too much weight for a child this should not happen but it happens more often than we can imagine. I hope that the laws in the country are dedicated to provide opportunities for progress, to really look after the most needy to understand that to the extent that we care for these children we are providing a future, which otherwise would not be possible.
