Hive Wallet Social Experiment Update | 200 HBD + 55 Hive Prize
Many people showed interest for participating in Hive Wallet social experiment. Originally I was going to randomly select five people who are interested. However seeing twenty people showing interest to participate, I decided to increase this experiment to four separate ones, so that everybody can participate. If you haven't read the details about this experiment yet, feel free to read my previous blog post.
Nothing has changed about the experiment itself. There will still be five people who will receive parts of the private active key as an encrypted memo, and they will need to work together to put the key back together to gain access to @hivegiftcard account and transfer funds elsewhere.
I also created new accounts: @hivegiftcard2, @hivegiftcard3, and @hivegiftcard4. They all have 50 HBD in each as well. There will be 3 more teams of 5 who will need to figure out the key for designated account and obtain their funds.
@soyrosa was super generous and sent 5 Hive to @hivegiftcard to increase the prize. So the first team now can get 50 HBD and 5 Hive. Awesome!
There are 20 people who showed clear interest in their comments. I used a list randomizing tool and came up with the following list.
You should have received parts of the active key for the respective accounts as an encrypted memo from me already. Remember, you need to login with private memo key to see decrypted memo. Nobody else can see them. The account your key can access is in the team name. For example, if you are in team @hivegiftcard4, your key can only access that account and not the others.
Again, there are no rules. There is no desired outcome. All outcomes are good. Work together or don't. Discuss on Hive or elsewhere. Doesn't matter. You have seven days to transfer the funds out of these accounts. The private keys will be reset on the eight day. The purpose of this experiment is to better understand Hive wallet, discuss how wallet and keys work, network with others, and have fun.
One more thing, I sent first memo to @hivegiftcard4 without encrypting by mistake. I had to reset the keys and send the funds again. So if there is a visible memo in that account, don't let that confuse you. That key in the memo is not valid.

The exact same messages. If you doubt it, you can message one another and confirm or screenshot the messages I sent out. Think about who you want to nominate as the holder and remember that it's possible for this to take more time figuring out the combinations. It looks like hazmat is super new user that is not around much. If team agrees we can replace hazmat with someone who showed interest but wasn’t included in the teams.

I think it's fair that you would pick which person to replace hazmat instead of us. We never had control who we will be working with and I would go for replacing hazmat at this point. But will wait for @kenechukwu97 @sanjeevm and @dragokazo as it's a team game.

Everything is going just fine.
I haven't been in a situation where Memo key was needed, and it doesn't seem to be displaying details on my wallet via Hive.blog
But on Peakd, it's showing a combination of 130 alphabets or so. Heheh.
I dunno if I'm getting it wrong.
As for the multiple response, the first was a reply to the person that tagged me in the comment section whole the second was a direct reply to the post. Heheh.
But, I will have to take things as it is and have a blast.
You need to sign in with memo key to see the message. The message is encrypted, that’s why peakd shows that and wallet.hive.blog hides them instead.
The point of these encrypted secret messages is that only the owner who has memo keys can view. Nobody else can.

As far as I know we have to calculate all possible unique combinations with 5 elements...I Would call a friend that knows everything about such stuff.
I would suggest asking for help. There are many many many possible combinations so maybe we could calculate them with a script. I ask you to allow me call him here.

Are you using wallet.hive.blog or other app? Private memo key should work to see the message.
If you are on mobile phone then you may need to flip the phone to landscape to see memo section.

Hi @readthisplease switch to pc if possible as @geekgirl told you loggin in using your MEMO key.

@readthisplease using a Pc and Hive Keychain extension (where you can import your keys including the memo one) and Peakd it would show you a lock besides the transaction in your wallet that you can open easily.

You sent me an encrypted message. In private keys capitalization is important. Don’t change the upper and lower case characters.
In the memo you sent to me you made all characters lower case, that would make them invalid. Use them as you have received.
Interesting, I wonder how that did happen. It was not on purpose.

I still think about that torch experiment sometimes.. Didn't someone just send it all to the exchange then said he would give it back then never did? Going off memory and not prepared to go searching for it... but I just remember he tried to play stupid I think 😄
3D printing is pretty awesome yeah, and is useful for things like Raspberry Pi and Arduino board cases. Today I repaired the flusher in my toilet with a carabiner clip. The possibilities are pretty endless :D
The poker site is still up and running? I haven't played in ages, but it would be super cool to get some games in, yeah I miss playing with you. It's like we could read each others minds on the table sometimes but you were always one step ahead of me ;)
Ending of steem torch was a little different. The last person who had it by mistake powered up the funds. After realizing that they started powering down. But that halted the torch from moving to someone else. And then the blockchain split happened. At that point we came to a different solution. They powered up and delegated the funds to a light-painters community. After the split it didn't make sense to continue the experiment.
Yes, poker is still going, I think. Bigger games are on Sundays, if I remember correctly. I was able to play for a while too. We all need to get back to the tables. It is always fun to play with you.
I felt it was one of the coolest social experiments ever done on the blockchain, and it sounds like it was a rather happy ending despite the power up mistake. Thanks for explaining how it ended.

I will make a post about what are my feelings on this experiment later on and will provide more data on the project itself.

It looks like all the teams do succeed widthrawing the funds of their respective accounts which makes me conclude "give me the pieces" and I will control your account.
I wonder how one could get those pieces or the "big piece" from our accounts and I got some answers:
