February 9 2022 - No more Fitbit

I broke my Fitbit zip a while ago. The screen broke so that I can't see the steps but otherwise it worked fine because it registered my steps and I was able to sync it with Actifit.

But few days after my last post Fitbit app does not support anymore phones with Android 7 or lower. My phone is more than 5 years old so can't update it. And since I refuse to buy a new one just because of Fitbit app because otherwise it works just fine, I can call, text, WhatsApp and Instagram works and the battery lasts at least one day (unless I use it outside below zero temperatures but that was a shitty thing in Huawei P9 when it was new) and if I don't use the phone the battery last longer so I'm not going to buy a new phone just because of the stupid Fitbit app.

Besides just buying a new phone wouldn't help because I would need the Fitbit zip screen to work in order to read the four numbers that appear to the screen to sync it with the Fitbit app on my new phone.

Soooo... I found an older version of the Fitbit app. I installed it and it said that it would not whipe any of the settings or information away. Well guess what. It did. I now need to sync my Fitbit Zip again with the Fitbit app. Good luck trying to see the digits from the split and broken Zip screen.

Thanks Fitbit for updating my new app without my approval to a version that no longer works with my Zip and properly in my phone!

You know, for the first time ever I had, yes, I had an app (I removed it because of rage quitting) that suggested that I should update the app but when I go to google app store with my phone that has too old Android version in it, there is no Fitbit app at all for my phone. I can see from my computer that it's there but not with my phone.

So the question that is still open here is: how the heck did the Fitbit app update itself to a newer version when there isn't one available for my phone in google play store?

Sooooo... the stepcount that I got was from walking to my work and back since I can't keep my phone with me anywhere on my dance classes. I either have no pockets or the phone just weighs too much.

And the other problem, letting my phone and Actifit track my steps when I walk outside, as it needs to be on aggressive tracking mode, I either need to have my reserve power with me or not walk that long. As I said my phone is more than five years old. But I still refuse to throw it away because it works and natural resources and the world has too much trash and and and... all that.

From now on I will be Actifitting only occasionally, perhaps on weekends if I go to long walks until all the boosts I bought with my AFIT are used.
