Market Friday: My Visit to the Museum of Kyiv

Hello, dear friends!
Happy Market Friday and St. Patrick's Day! 🍀
I'm glad again to join #MarketFriday Challenge initiated by @dswigle.

Today I invite you to the exhibition of Ukrainian artists that I recently visited in the Museum of Kyiv. This exhibition is dedicated to spring awakening, positive impressions and emotions that give joy and hope. Therefore, there you can see a lot of green, which today is the dominant color on St. Patrick's Day. Oh, yes, there will even be an incendiary dance. So, let's go!

These two bright rabbits meet me at the entrance to the Museum of Kyiv. They are so cute and make me smile. 😊 I have a feeling that the exhibition will be very inspiring.

In the museum's central hall, you can see a bas-relief of Archangel Michael (later 17th century). It decorated the building of the Kyiv City Hall until 1811. Archangel Michael is the patron saint of the city of Kyiv, so his image has adorned the coat of arms of Kyiv since the end of the 18th century.

I buy an entrance ticket to the exhibition 'Awakening' of modern Ukrainian artists. The ticket price is 2,6 dollars.

In the first painting in the exhibition hall, I see a green leaf. Of course, this is not a shamrock. But, in my opinion, the artist chose a very successful symbol, showing the power of life in his painting. It is like a sprout of life itself.

'The Power of Life' (2019), Ukrainian artist Dmytro Zazymko

Why not saddle Pegasus that to meet the blossoming spring? After all, there is so much greenery ahead.

'Pegasus and Eos, the Goddess of the Dawn' (2017), Ukrainian artist Oleksiy Glazunov

An ant 🐜 and a bee 🐝 collect their first nectar from spring flowers. What juicy and refreshing green colors!

This picture was a revelation for me. After all, I have never seen how a eucalyptus blooms. Sometimes a visit to a museum enriches us with the knowledge that we did not expect to find there. 🙂

'Eucalyptus' (2022), Ukrainian artist Anastasia Osmolovska

Amazing work of Ukrainian artist Anastasia Podervyanskа. 'Still life with a parrot' (2021), embroidery, potal (gold leaf)

Hehehe! And here are the rabbits. They are also presented at the exhibition. A pleasant surprise. They are so funny.

A painting with a red background catches my attention. It depicts the Ukrainian folk dance Arkan. There is a legend that this dance was first performed by Celtic tribes who once lived in the Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains. The Arkan dance is identical to the Irish "Ev Sistr" and the Breton "Yes Ev Chistr, Laou!". More information you can find here.

I come close to the picture to look at this quadriptych in more detail.

'Arkan' (2019), Ukrainian artist Marian Luniv

Look at this picture! It seems that it is about to come to life, and you will immerse yourself in the unceasing element of the dance

'The birth of a white tulip' (2022), Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Kolesnikov

There were many more great paintings at the exhibition. And I will talk about some of them in my next posts. Thank you for your attention and support. And taking this opportunity, I congratulate everyone on the arrival of spring.

P.S. Already from the outside, I saw this picture through one of the museum's windows. This bouquet seemed to inform the city that spring had already arrived. And just a few steps away, I saw live spring flowers at the entrance to a restaurant in the center of Kyiv. At that moment, it seemed to me that I, too, had blossomed. 🌷

What a beautiful post! Happy St. Patrick's Day and Happy Spring! It is today, the very first day. What a wonderful celebration to have your post first on my computer this morning!

The rabbits were a nice welcome, they do make a person smile, happy, and whimsical all at the same moment. Then, the promise of some dance!? Who doesn't love an Irish jig or dance? This certainly was a great idea! Thank you!

I will admit that I was wowed by the bas-relief of Michael the Archangel. I had no idea he was the patron Saint of Kyiv. It is a beautiful entry into the museum. I think that it is a great bargain for a price, although, I am of the opinion that everyone should be able to feed this beauty to their soul, even if they cannot afford it.

I have never seen the blooms on a eucalyptus tree, only what is left when the flower blooms. How strange, now that I think about it. To never catch that moment, only the after-show. I was happy to see the rabbits again, with more company!

I am so blown away by the red backgrounded picture of the Ukrainian Folk Dance. I have no words for it, it moves on its own... I can see the dance. It is simply spectacular! Thank you! Thank you for such a wonderful post.

Perfect as always! ❤️💚 Thank you for supporting the challenge!

#MarketFriday began as a way to reach out across the globe and learn about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, and eventually branched out and evolved over time from straight shopping to a cultural affair as it highlights how we differ and then again, how much we are alike. We have become a melting pot of culture, but it is still the Rituals, Festivals, food, architecture, and even your language/languages that separate us... Along with the fact that these things are normal for us. There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. A strong culture can be beneficial to a country as it promotes unity, especially during a crisis, peaceful debate, and open dialogue. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. Thank you for being a part of #MarketFriday
