For several days I was somewhat absent, due to personal issues that have led me to abandon my blog a little. Sincerely I missed this, interacting and being able to write has always been something that I like, telling my experiences or points of view openly is everything and more than that is the great number of friendships that it has allowed me to have. I don't want to get sentimental but it was important to clarify my absence especially in the community and once this is done, let's go to what we came to.

I started to think and the Nintendo 64 is a console that from every point of view is part of my childhood and the fact of being so good is thanks to the large number of good games that make up its catalog. As there are so many of them, there are many of which by chance, either because I didn't know about them or maybe I never gave them a chance (you know, kid stuff) I never played them and that's why I wanted to take the time to try them out so I wouldn't die without the experience of having played them, so let's get to it.

Choise 1: Paper Mario.

Yup, I know what you're thinking at this point. Who hasn't played Paper Mario? Well, I'm one. I don't know why I never tried it but I only knew it was a game that caught my attention when I saw it in a magazine so dear to me that was Club Nintendo. This game along with Super Mario Strikers were always games that caught my attention thanks to its eye-catching visuals that made every kid want to try it, so I decided to see what it was like.

The truth is that it's just like I remember it as a kid, magnificent visuals and the concept of making a "3D" game with that fake 2D render I love. It is something that many games do (Mario Kart from the GBA a great example in this video) and it is a smart resource that allows to take excellent advantage of the console without forcing it too much and give the player a pleasant experience from every point of view.

We started by going to Princess Peach's castle, this sounds familiar to you too? Bah, I never get tired of this anyway. Bowser appears out of nowhere in what is another attempt to kidnap her, as faithful guardians and knights try to protect her in what is a pretty intense battle. I don't remember Bowser being so hard to kill but even though I'm very competitive Nintendo didn't want me to defeat him for the sake of the plot, who am I to tell them what to do.

After the big beating, I was given we fall into the jungle, being rescued by an adorable Goomba who takes us to her village. The game is entertaining, despite being a typical Mario story I think I'm enjoying playing it more as an adult than I would as a kid. We wake up in a kind villager's house, I'll call him Toad as he is known and visiting everything and talking to the villagers here I find a witch who is Bowser's henchman, she obstructs my way to advance throwing a block in the middle and only to break it I have to look for a hammer that belongs to the village blacksmith.

I was on a balcony which the witch destroyed so I fell with him but fortunately, I'm made of paper so it wasn't much. After fights against some characters, we found the hammer and managed to return to the village to destroy the previous block, so one of the young Goombas offers to accompany me on the road, and well, really help would not hurt.

On the way I encountered several enemy Goombas, the fighting system of the game is funny as I feel like I'm in a kind of Pokemon, everything is turn-based. I defeated some Goombas on the way who went to seek refuge with the evil king Goomba so this will be my first boss battle (not counting the obligatory Bowser beating of course) of the game. On top of that, there are the two reinforcement crybabies against me and his companion.

The main thing was to go after the weaker ones and use some mushrooms I managed to collect along the way since I was at very low HP. After this, I managed to make the evil king die and get star points that I still honestly do not know what they are for but what I do know is that I could see how the Goomba king cried in his castle. This game is amazing and the experience of playing it was a lot of fun, I don't want to imagine how crazy it would have been to play it as a kid but as I say, it's never too late to do it, let's move on to the next one.

Choise 2: Lylat Wars.

Another old friend, despite being a fan of all the space sagas I never gave a chance to this one even though it looked visually similar to one of the games that have hooked me the most (and I plan to tell you about it in the next posts) which is Grim Fandango. Anyway, this game is space adventures to liberate planets in apocalypse through spaceships in an epic way like you couldn't more so let's get to it. We start on a map with our first planet and a pretty stylish team.

We start as all rockstar's with a song in the background and our space jets, to be honest, I feel like Tom Cruise in Top Gun and I feel that everything will get more and more epic. We are going through a planet in apocalypse and ships wanting to attack us from all sides, even my companions suffer some damage but nothing to worry about when experts are handling everything.

This game is crazy, I enjoy blowing up spaceships and I don't want to imagine what it would have been like to play it as a kid. After several cyborgs, claymores, and destroyed ships we seem to be getting to what would be a kind of the boss of this world that is destroying everything including its inhabitants. One of the most epic battles with the team in which 4 Jets are trying to destroy a kind of giant Godzilla that shoots projectiles.

However, it wasn't a big deal, the battle was pretty easy I guess because it was the first unlockable world of all. This game is a blast no matter how simple its concept may be, who doesn't like to blow everything up into spaceships, epic arcade-style music? Because I think it's the perfect formula. Honestly, I see it very well, I remember seeing a lot of it and having friends who were addicted I don't understand how I could never get to try it, fortunately, that was until now.

And that's how my afternoon went, do I regret it? Not at all, it was a very good experience and the time spent enjoying them is the best. It's brutal the way that even having spent so much time still having fun, it's always a good time to try games especially if they are gems that we could never give a chance as they deserved. Desde hace varios días estaba algo ausente, debido a cuestiones personales que me han sumado a abandonar un poco mi blog. Sinceramente extrañaba esto, el interactuar y poder escribir siempre ha sido algo que me gusta, relatar mis experiencias o puntos de vista de manera abierta lo es todo y más que eso es la gran cantidad de amistades que me ha permitido tener. Realmente no quiero ponerme sentimental, pero era importante aclarar mi ausencia sobre todo en la comunidad y una vez hecho esto, vamos a lo que vinimos.

Me puse a pensar y realmente la Nintendo 64 es una consola que desde todo punto de vista es parte de mi infancia y el hecho de ser tan buena es gracias a la gran cantidad de juegos buenos que conforman a su catálogo. Al haber tantos hay muchos de los cuales por cuestiones fortuitas, ya sea de no haberlo sabido o quizás nunca haberle dado la oportunidad (ya saben, cosas de niños) nunca los jugué y es por esto que quise tomarme el tiempo de probarlos para por lo menos no morir sin la experiencia de haberlos jugado, así que vamos a ello.

Elección 1: Paper Mario.

Sí, sé lo que pensarás en este momento ¿Quién no ha jugado Paper Mario a estas alturas? Pues, yo soy uno. Realmente no sé porque razón nunca lo probé, pero solamente sabía que era un juego que me llamaba la atención cuando lo veía en una revista tan apreciada por mí que era Club Nintendo. Este junto al Super Mario Strikers siempre fueron juegos que captaron mi atención gracias a su visual tan llamativa que hacía que todo niño lo quisiera probar, así que me animé a ver que tal era.

La verdad es que es tal cual como lo recuerdo de niño, visuales magníficas y el concepto de hacer un juego "3D" con ese render falso 2D me encanta. Realmente es algo que muchos juegos lo hacen (Mario Kart de la GBA un gran ejemplo en este video) y es un recurso inteligente que permite sacar un provecho excelente a la consola sin forzarla demasiado y otorgarle al jugador una experiencia agradable desde todo punto de vista.

Empezamos yendo al castillo de la princesa Peach, esto me suena conocido ¿A ustedes también? Bah, igual no me canso nunca de esto. Aparece Bowser de la nada en lo que es otro intento de secuestrarla, nosotros como todo unos fieles guardianes y caballeros intentamos protegerla en lo que es una batalla bastante intensa. Realmente no recuerdo que fuera tan duro de matar Bowser pero realmente aunque soy muy competitivo los de Nintendo no quisieron que lo derrotase por el bien de la trama, quien soy yo para decirles que hacer.

Luego de la gran paliza que me dieron caemos en la selva, siendo rescatados por una adorable Goomba que nos lleva a su pueblo. Realmente está entretenido el juego, a pesar de ser la típica historia de Mario creo que estoy disfrutando más jugándolo como adulto que como lo jugaría de niño. Despertamos en una casa de un amable aldeano, le llamaré Toad como se conoce y visitando todo y hablando con los aldeanos de acá me encuentro con una bruja que es secuaz de Bowser, me obstruye el camino para avanzar tirando un bloque en medio y solamente para romperla tengo que buscar un martillo que pertenece al herrero del pueblo.

Al parecer estaba en un balcón el cual la bruja destruyó por lo que caí con él aunque afortunadamente soy de papel así que no fue mucho. Luego de peleas contra algunos personajes encontramos el martillo y logramos volver al pueblo para destruir el bloque anterior, por lo que uno de los Goombas jóvenes se ofrece a acompañarme en el camino y bueno, realmente ayuda no me vendría mal.

En el camino encontré varios Goombas enemigos, el sistema de peleas del juego es gracioso, ya que me siento en una especie de Pokémon, todo es por turnos. Derroté a algunos Goombas en el camino que fueron a pedir refugio con el rey malvado Goomba por lo que esto será mi primera batalla de boss (sin contar la paliza obligada de Bowser claro) del juego. Además de ello están los dos llorones de refuerzo contra mi persona y su acompañante.

Lo primordial fue ir detrás de los más débiles y usar unos champiñones que logré recolectar en el camino ya que estaba con el HP muy bajo. Luego de esto logré hacer que el rey malvado muriera y poder obtener puntos de estrella que aún sinceramente no sé para qué sirven, pero lo que sí se es que pude ver como el rey Goomba lloraba en su castillo. Realmente este juego es asombroso y la experiencia de jugarlo fue muy divertida, no me quiero imaginar la locura que hubiera sido jugarlo de niño, pero como digo, nunca es tarde para hacerlo, pasemos al siguiente.

Elección 2: Lylat Wars.

Otro viejo amigo, a pesar de ser fanático de todas las sagas espaciales nunca le di una oportunidad a este por más que se parecía en lo visual a uno de los juegos que más me han enganchado (y del que tengo planeado hablarles) que es Grim Fandango. En fin, este juego es aventuras espaciales para liberar planetas en apocalipsis mediante naves espaciales de una manera épica como no se podría más así que vamos a ello. Empezamos en un mapa con nuestro primer planeta y un equipo con bastante estilo.

Empezamos como todos unos rockstar's con canción de fondo y en nuestros jets espaciales, siendo sincero me siento Tom Cruise en Top Gun y siento que cada vez se pondrá todo más épico. Estamos pasando por un planeta en apocalipsis y naves queriendo atacarnos por todos lados, incluso mis compañeros sufren algunos daños, pero nada de que preocuparse cuando expertos están manejando todo.

Este juego es una locura, realmente disfruto explotando naves espaciales y no me quiero imaginar como hubiera sido jugarlo de niño. Luego de varios cíborgs, claymores y naves destruidas al parecer estamos llegando a lo que sería una especie de jefe de este mundo que está destruyendo todo incluido sus habitantes. Una de las batallas más épicas junto al equipo en el que 4 Jets están tratando de destruir a una especie de Godzilla gigante que dispara proyectiles.

Sin embargo no fue nada del otro mundo realmente, la batalla fue bastante fácil supongo por ser el primer mundo desbloqueable de todos. Realmente este juego es un puntazo por más simple que pueda ser su concepto, ¿A quién no le gusta explotar todo en naves espaciales, música épica al estilo arcade? Porque creo que es la fórmula perfecta. Sinceramente lo veo muy bien, recuerdo haber visto bastante de él y teniendo amigos que eran adictos no entiendo como nunca pude llegar a probarlo, afortunadamente eso fue hasta ahora.

Y así se fue mi tarde prácticamente, ¿Me arrepiento de ello? En lo absoluto, fue muy buena la experiencia y el tiempo invertido disfrutándolos es lo mejor. Es brutal la manera en que aún habiendo pasado tanto sigan divirtiéndome, siempre es buen momento para probar juegos sobre todo si son joyas que nunca pudimos dar una oportunidad como se merecía.
