Greetings to all the members of the community, how are you? In my country we are very fond of taking misfortunes as a joke because that way we are downplaying situations that might bother other people, here a near death experience instead of being traumatic can be hilarious and you can even laugh in a group with complete strangers, as was what happened to me a few days ago. I was returning from visiting one of my best friends whom I hadn't seen for some time, his mom was leaving for work just as I was leaving and we decided to go out together, we had to take the same bus route anyway, although eventually we would get separated in the middle. We talked for a while until we got on the bus, the site of the event.

This is a well-known meme in Latin America

Have you ever heard how the people who drive buses in Latin America drive? Well Venezuela is no exception to that unwritten rule that bus drivers have to look like they are filming a movie with Dominic Toretto, it can be an otherworldly experience... and we didn't end up there with San Pedro because miracles do exist. You would think it's impossible for a bus driver to think of racing a colleague on the road, while the passengers are inside clueless, but no, it's not, they do, and in fact, they did. The driver of the bus he was on decided it was a great idea to set about wanting to get to the next stop first, trying to overtake one of the buses in front of him.

Hang on who can!

The speed at which he was going was breaking what was allowed for that area, which fortunately was not congested, otherwise we would have crashed first into whatever was in the way. Thanks to that same speed, when the bus driver changed lanes to pass the other bus, he made a very abrupt movement that sent all of us who were inside the bus to the side, I am sure that he only needed a little speed for the wheels to separate from the pavement and we ended up overturning, because that was just the feeling I got, that we were half touching the ground and half in the air. The funniest thing of all was that I was in one of the seats that do not face forward but to the side, they are sideways, it is the way they made that model of bus.

My back for a moment was stuck to the strength of the seat back, while my friend's mother, who curiously had sat in the seat in front of me, had to hold on to something to keep from sliding to the floor. I must admit that I was astonished, my expression must have been very funny because as soon as I looked at the others, we all started laughing because we did not expect to feel something like that on a Saturday afternoon, of almost ending up inside an overturned bus in the middle of the road -at best- because the bus driver wanted to go to I don't know where. The person next to me was wearing headphones and it made me laugh when he said he felt with the music that he was being transported to another dimension along with the movement of the bus.

Maybe that's how he felt

I think most people living in Latin America have gone through a situation like this at some point in our lives and we will continue to experience them because they will not stop happening, unfortunately, but the Venezuelan good humor makes them become something to have a few laughs taking advantage of the fact that we are alive and not stuck on the pavement. When these things happen it is usual for everyone to tell the bus driver that he is not transporting pigs among various insults. The bad time now became an anecdote that I soon told my friend so that he would know the experience I had with his mother, and my own parents, who were thankful that nothing bad had happened to me after such an incredible situation, where we almost took the wrong route to heaven.

The cover photo has its respective reference as well as the bus which is the same as the image used later, edited using the Canva page.

Hahaha we do have such drivers here too... So careless and carefree that they don't act like they have lives in their bus hoping to get home safely.
I can imagine how the fear turned into a joke, that's a refreshing way to stay strong 😂

Totally, all you can think about is getting home and the bus drivers are off to the races.

Thank you very much for reading and commenting.

I've heard stories like this from every person I know who has traveled abroad! In America, only the school bus drivers act like that!

I can't tolerate such drivers ooo. That's why I often watch while traveling in a public bus. This is why I also don't sleep in the bus while on a journey. Some drivers would have taken what would make them while their eyes, like alcohol and whatnot and may begin to misbehave on the steering.
