Old building

An old building I found in my travels!

Every Sunday I like to jump in the ol’ jeep and go check out places I haven’t seen before in my area. But because of gas prices I haven’t been venturing out much. Now, as you can see in these pictures below I came across an old building across from a park. So I did some research and found out it’s called the Hambleton’s Mill. Once owned by one of the four Quaker brothers, which all four of them owned 300 acres of the surrounding land. That was in 1813.

This building has an eerie look and feel to it, with the old bars on it, making me think at first, that it was an old jail. With that not being the case, I do feel that some bad things did happen here, at least once. Just because the way it’s barred up.

Now what’s really awesome is the construction of the building. Even though it was built in 1813, I believe it could still be used. The outer layers of the building are still in wonderful shape. But the inside floor could really use a major remodeling. And the windows of course and the roof may need done too. But all in all I still think it could be used.

Now because of the park, the parking would be limited, if it was going to be remodeled for any type of business.

As you can see below it is right next to the road.

I like this building because there is no other buildings around it and it sits all alone, but it’s strong construction doesn’t remove it from our lives. And it keeps the memories of the four Quaker brothers who made this and other mills down this creek.

I hope you enjoyed this little post about this building and enjoyed the pictures I took of it. I enjoyed telling you about it.
