My experience with the game: Darkest Dungeon

Welcome everyone, especially video game lovers, the HiveGaming community and readers in general. This time I bring you the game Darkest Dungeon, which is a video game of the ROL genre which was developed by Red Hook Studios for digital platforms Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, iOS, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. It was officially released on the market on January 19, 2016 for the aforementioned platforms. The plot of this game is interesting at least from my point of view, where it is about a character who is dedicated to dig tombs and dungeons, under his house (mansion), which triggers a series of events such as the release of some monstrous creatures. There is where the player must begin the journey, assemble a team of people to fight against these evil creatures that will move around the mansion, causing havoc and for that our main character must eliminate them. The truth is that this kind of games are my favorites, so I can tell you that I enjoyed it and quite a lot, that's why I decided to talk about it. For this publication I will take into account the most relevant aspects from my point of view that we can find in a game, such as gameplay, game mechanics, graphics and sound, plus any other aspect that helps to complete this post to make it more to your liking.

Starting with the gameplay, I must tell you that the game mechanics are not complicated at all, or maybe I thought so because I am already used to these types of games, where there are battles and the fights are turn-based. Our character can control a series of heroes or adventurers in order to defeat the opponents, which in this case are the creatures that were released. The player also has the opportunity to assemble his team to his liking, all this we can do in the village where our protagonist is, where we can get new heroes with their skills and characteristics, as is usually the role-playing games. In this kind of game it is always important to build the strategy that would work best to defeat the enemy, but it is also vital to potential the skills of our team.

Like all role-playing games, Darkest Dungeon has different resources that we use to improve our equipment and anything else that is necessary to try to fulfill the different missions that are presented to us in the game. These missions appear little by little and they usually take place in the surroundings of the mansion and even in the place where it is located. A recommendation is that we should always save as many resources as possible and only use the necessary ones to buy things like food, torches, shovels, keys, among others, which are necessary for the player to complete the missions. When trying to complete these tests we can find many things, such as enemies, treasure chests, traps, power-ups and other varieties. A game that seems to me to be quite complete in terms of gameplay, can provide us with great fun.

While the graphics are not as impressive as other games, I think Darkest Dungeon has fulfilled very favorably where we see a great artistic design, with a touch of terror as is the plot of the game, something that is quite consistent. The style of this is very peculiar to me, I had never played a game where the graphics were inspired by a comic style, something that really did not disappoint me at all. Something I think could have been better is the animations, the characters are well created and with a very good style. The interface of the game is perfect and very consistent with this game. The different scenarios where the plot of this game takes place is very well done, I just think it lacks some variety to make it better. The fluidity of the game was good, very fluid and nothing negative to highlight.

The sound if it is true that is outstanding. With some pretty outstanding sound effects, the truth that was to my liking, something that the soundtrack, the quality of the themes although it lacks more variety in quantity, but the important thing is that it has very consistent with what we are living. The game is in English but has Spanish subtitles, plus the game has a very good narration, which gives more expectations to the players. Finally, the sound is one of the most outstanding aspects that we can find in the game.

In conclusion, Darkest Dungeon is a very entertaining game, which can give us great fun and even more when we like this kind of game. The gameplay is very good, the game has good mechanics, with turn-based battles like most RPGs I've tried. The graphics are good, the truth is that I was not disappointed at all, although I expected a little more from the animations. The sound I did like very outstanding, especially the sound effects that are at a high level as well as the soundtrack that I just think the lack more variety in the themes. If you like role playing games with some horror, Darkest Dungeon is the right game to try and I recommend it. For all of the above, I give the game a 9.7.
