La lluvia y el miedo que me generaba / The rain and the fear it generated in me (Esp- Eng)

Me encanta subirla a mi espalda y divertirnos.

The rain and the fear it generated in me

As a child, I became accustomed to fearing the rains. No matter what time of day or where I was when it rained, the increase in my heart pressure and sweating, as well as negative thoughts, overpowered me. It was uncontrollable.

I grew up with this conditioning without understanding its origin, without worrying about overcoming it. One day when I was 14 years old, my dad came home in the middle of winter (a very Guanarean way of saying that it was raining hard), when he could not open the door to the street, my mom went out to open it for him, I watched everything crying and dominated by fear. Suddenly I saw my parents playing in the rain, minutes later my brothers were also playing in the rain, ignoring my crying and screaming.

I don't remember how, but my dad put me on the almond tree that was in the yard and the images I have are of playing with my family in the rain. That was repeated many other times until I began to long for the rains, its taste, its impact on my face, in my mind are the memories of having my mouth open waiting for it to fill with water or looking for a big stream in which enough water would fall.

Thus, with no therapy other than enjoyment and familiar love, I overcame my aversion to the rains, but something was still incomplete.

Why the rains generated fear in me was a question that haunted my mind for a long time. That question came and went, but those of us who are awake in a sleeping world, always review our beliefs and patterns of behavior. It was with that awareness that I was able to give an answer to what I had in my mind.

I managed to remember that in my first years of life, we lived in a zinc and mud ranch, every time the rainy season came, my mother would get desperate, she would run to tie the wall of the house to a sucker, we had a pig that sought to scratch itself with the walls and made the house tremble. I remember my parents praying together so that the house would not fall on us, they cried to heaven so that our home would not be our coffin. Therein lay the fear, in that learning.

At 33 I had my daughter, @tereguanare, and since she turned one year old we play in the rain, run, jump and enjoy. I love to get her on my back and have fun. My wife @enfamilia2 is the one who always takes pictures of us or videotapes those crazy things we experience, to her I seek to give her a teaching of fullness, so that the day she is gone, she can have positive memories of the happiness that the rains produce.

Saludos a Tere.
