Derecho a quejarse (Relato) / Right to complain (Short Story) (Esp - Eng)

No había descanso.

Right to complain

I was sitting there cursing my old desires. Those "what ifs" that now torment me: what if I travel the world, what if I die happy, what if the worries are out of my life. They are things that one discovers as wasted time, unnecessary moments, silly thoughts.

I remember that as soon as I opened my eyes all those "what ifs" appeared. I lasted many centuries traveling around the world, but in each trip I suffered worse. I was burned, in others I was raped and I remember that in one of those my happiness was on an ocean liner and my family was killed in my presence.

There was no rest. Suffering and more suffering.

Every dead person should have the right to complain, but the truth is that these lines are yet another punishment, because they will be read to me to aggravate my suffering, because now, those who are crazy, wandering around, naked and screaming that the worst is coming.

The stage of silence is coming. The one where silence screams, tears and there is no sound to break it. If I had known this, I would have dedicated myself to live more and dream less, because one dies only once, while one lives many times.

Saludos, @franvenezuela.
