Is education truly the key to success?

It was the ideology that "education is the key to success" that shaped my life while growing up. I was determined to acquire education at all cost because I was told that life without education would later be miserable – very much. "Once you are educated, you will be rich and you will be able to take care of yourself and your family; without education, you won't", my grandmother would always say.
However,as I grew up and things began to play out differently,I had to quickly dispel this belief. Secondly, I was able to gather enough information about the educational history and background of some of the world's most famous people and I had discovered that a small portion of them were not highly educated — some were school dropouts. So, how were they able to attain stardom without education?

This topic became more controversial for me to handle recently when I was approached by a student who seemed to be demoralized by some occurrences. He posed me with many questions that I couldn't give satisfactory answers to, hence, my reason for this article.

These were his questions:
♦️Is education truly the key to success when the elites are ruled by the unschooled or half-schooled, with Nigeria as a case study?
♦️ If education is still the key to success, why then do the uneducated become company owners who eventually employ the educated ones?
♦️ Why would we say education is the key to success when most of the world's top influencers and inventors are either half-educated or not at all?
♦️Of what use is education when there are no official jobs for graduates in underdeveloped countries, except the few favoured by favouritism?

So, my dear reader, do you have satisfying answers to these questions, do you think education is the key to success? Feel free to share your views on this topic. Thank you.
