A Witch in My Garden: My Killer Bed Bugs are already grown-up girls!

avatar

Hello My Dear Witches...!

A couple of months ago I shared with them some pictures of these little friends who now live in my garden, at first I panicked, because I had no idea what kind of bugs were invading my poor cottonwood bushes, They had already been attacked by the monarch caterpillars (which are still attacking them but I let them live peacefully, they do not eat the flowers or the fruits) and by the cotton-weed aphids, which besides being unpleasant to the eye, they sting and are somewhat annoying. But the truth is that by researching a little these rare bugs, which at the time were tiny nymphs, are beneficial for these plants.

The Zelus Longipes or Cotton Killer Bed Bugs, of which I spoke a little more in this publication are literally killers, as they eat some pests, especially cotton aphids, so I decided to let them live freely in my little garden. Well, there are still some of these bed bugs in my garden, only they are already adult bed bugs, and they are even multiplying, as they have left their eggs in some of my tomato plants.

As long as they get rid of pests that are harmful to my plants, I will be happy to receive them in the garden. I have read some comments from people who say that they are "ruthless bugs" for their way of killing other insects, because they literally suck them like vampires and only leave in their wake the shells of these dead bodies, even in my garden I have found some shells of other kinds of bugs that go through the plants sucking their sap and killing them little by little. So I can corroborate what I had already read about them, which are bio-regulating agents.

I can't imagine the terror that small insects must feel when they see them up close and feel that imminent death is stalking them, a whole suspense and terror movie may even seem to them, but if they are messing with my poor and defenseless plants then I hope that these murderous bedbugs will kill them all.

Thank you for taking the time to read this publication, if you have any questions, criticisms or suggestions, I would appreciate leaving it in the comments box, and remember, you can also do magic wherever you go!

Those are some really neat looking bugs. And if they are protecting your garden from the bad bugs then they are doubly awesome!!

There are times when the bad guys become the good guys in history, and I think this is the case!

I can't imagine the terror that small insects must feel when they see them up close and feel that imminent death is stalking them, a whole suspense and terror movie may even seem to them.

I laughed so hard at this and know I'm going to hell for it.

Aren't you afraid they will get inside your house? I think this would make me wonder if one or more of them got on me every time I'd go outside!

The truth is that if I have thought about it, but they are more of being in plants and eating bugs, and as inside the house we do not have plants, that makes me feel calmer!

The garden seems to be a mysterious place with a lot going on there that is unseen..

In my garden I have found every insect in my life I had ever imagined existed, so a small garden is a whole ecosystem apart that sometimes we will not understand or know completely!

Eeee.. That is so creepy.
I am no fan of insect... And hate when they eat up the leaves of the plants.

That's right, I'm very upset at the moment with the monarch caterpillars because they have eaten many of my cotton-weed plants.

Very pretty little bug, cleaning up is part of their life we don't know much about. Small white eggs like this I have seen with butterflies, being observant does open a magical world up to us.

Excellent photography and insight into this bug @fmbs25

i have noticed how monarch butterflies go on to lay their eggs on cotton ball plants, but they only lay one egg at a time, they are details that make a difference in each species

I think that even though they are ugly bugs, they can give us good pictures!

Didn't know they were beneficial to plants. Thanks for enlightening me. As long as they don't get into the house, then I'm fine with them. They can do their thing out there.

I didn't know it either until recently, in fact when I saw them doing everything possible to exterminate them, and I also discovered that they can smell awful when you crush them!

Note the colors on them tell the birds that they are poisonous and so the birds won't eat them. Beautiful little bugs my friend.
Blessings!

I haven't got any information about it, but I'm pretty sure it is, these colors always mean danger!

You are correct, the bright colors of red and yellow normally warns the birds not to eat them.
Those are really cute little bugs that you have there my friend.
Blessings!

If they are, and I believe that in photography they look much better than in person, because they are so small that they cannot be appreciated well!

I don't know if these are like the ones in bed, but I think that if one of these appears in my bed, I would run very fast and far hahaha.

Great pictures, @fmbs25! I think it’s so great that you research which bugs are beneficial and which are damaging so you let the good ones do their work!

If so, many times people make mistakes by ending up with some animals thinking they are harmful, so it's best to investigate first!

If so, it has spectacular colors, the truth is that I have never paid attention to this type of animals!

are they really bedbugs or is that just a fun name for them. In the past i owned a guesthouse and it got infested with just regular bedbugs and it was an absolute nightmare to get rid of them.

If that's their common name, from what I've seen there are different types of bed bugs, there are those that are big insects and those that you tell me are smaller and those more than anything feed on the mites that leave dead skin and that we find in the mattresses, those do bite people and I think domestic animals!
