A new opportunity to climb - Una nueva oportunidad de escalar
From the heights, Michell lay suspended. Her carelessness in grabbing the smooth yellow rock caused her whole body to spin in the air until her head hit the wall.
Her boyfriend, Jason, watched from above; but had her anchored with a cable and ropes. The ropes connected them directly, if the cable broke Jason would have to support Michell's full weight. He moved to climb down to assist her. He hammered the rock with a steel bolt, but it was taking some time. He wanted to tie all of Michell's ropes to several bolts so he wouldn't have to support all of her weight.
Below Michell also watched a couple of friends more inexperienced than Jason. But, they wanted to do something. One of them, the one with the most skill decided to climb up to help, seeing that Jason was taking so long. It was a race against the clock. They didn't know what condition Michell was in, let alone if the position he was in could hold any longer.
Jason from above heard the cable cracking and decided to hammer harder and faster. He knew Michell was in serious trouble. Meanwhile, his friends who were tied to another bolt below Michell were trying to move as fast as they could; but were cautious in doing so.
The unthinkable happened. The cable snapped, and the friends closed their eyes so as not to see the sad scene. Michell's boyfriend, gawking at what was happening, was dumbfounded. Michell regained consciousness to hold on again. Very dazed, but with reflexes that made her remember where she was and the danger that surrounded her.
Soon Jason managed to tie off the remaining ropes to go down and help his girlfriend who, although she was attached to the rocks, seemed to have fainted again.
Desde las alturas, Michell yacía suspendida. Su descuido al tomar la roca amarilla lisa hizo que todo su cuerpo diera un giro en el aire hasta que su cabeza golpeara contra la pared.
Su novio Jason, observaba desde lo alto, pero la tenía anclada con un cable y cuerdas. Las cuerdas los unían directamente, si el cable se rompiera Jason tendría que aguantar todo el peso de Michell. Se propuso a bajar para auxiliarla. Martilló la roca con un perno de acero, pero le estaba llevando algo de tiempo. Quería atar todas las cuerdas de Michel a varios Pernos para que no tener que soportar todo el peso de ella.
Debajo de Michell también observaban un par de amigos más inexpertos que Jason. Pero, querían hacer algo. Uno de ellos, el que tenía mayor habilidad decidió subir para ayudar, al ver que Jason tardaba tanto. Era una carrera contra reloj. No sabían en que condición estaba Michell y mucho menos si la posición en la que estaba podía aguantar más.
Jason desde arriba escuchaba resquebrajar el cable y decide martillar con más fuerza y velocidad. Sabía que Michell estaba en serios problemas. Mientras tantos, sus amigos que estaban atados a otro perno más abajo de Michell trataban de moverse lo más deprisa que podían, pero eran cautos al hacerlo.
Lo impensable sucedió. El cable se rompió y los amigos cerraron los ojos para no ver la triste escena. El novio de Michell, quedó boquiabierto observando lo que ocurría. Michell recobraba la conciencia para sujetarse nuevamente. Muy aturdida, pero con unos reflejos que le hicieron recordar donde estaba y el peligro que la envolvía.
Pronto Jason logró, amarrar las cuerdas restantes para bajar y ayudar a su novia que, aunque estaba sujeta a las rocas, parece que se había desmayado nuevamente.
