Expectation Vs. Reality
These are the words that define what I felt when watching this new season. This series accompanied me through several years of my adolescence and now in my adulthood.
Seeing how many years have passed (yes, let's count), since 2004 when the last episode was released, then the films and today they are once again flooding our screens, has made me feel nostalgic and expectant.
The main attraction of this series was the imperfection in the love relationships that these girls were involved in with "Sex and the City" and that today reappear with "And just like that", which is a combination of emotions between what we think of as time standing still and seeing how advanced the time we live in is. Always from their perspective and showing themselves as real as you and me, with the same problems and situations.
So, I will talk a little bit about what I think about this new stage and how it impacts me.
Expectativa vs realidad Estas son las palabras que definen lo que sentí al ver esta nueva temporada. Es que está serie acompaño varios años de mi adolescencia y ya en mi proceso de adultez. Ver cómo han pasado tantos años, (si, saquemos cuenta), desde 2004 cuando fue su último episodio, luego las películas y hoy nuevamente inundan nuestras pantallas, género en mi nostalgia y expectativa. La principal atracción de esta serie era la imperfección en las relaciones amorosas que se veían envueltas estas chicas con "Sexo en la ciudad" y que hoy reaparecen con "And just like that", que es una combinación de emociones entre lo que pensamos que el tiempo se detuvo y ver lo avanzado del tiempo que vivimos. Siempre desde su perspectiva y mostrandose tan reales como tú y yo, con los mismos problemas y situaciones. Por esto, hablaré un poco de lo que pienso de esta nueva etapa y como impacto en mi.
The Synopsis
The plot takes place on the streets of New York (USA), almost 2 decades later. Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte, are reunited in their married lives, family, new goals and situations that arise individually. New characters come to life in this season, perfectly adapted to the times we live in today. The fashion, locations and reflections are still present in the episodes.
I won't say more, lest I sound like a spoiler and I'm denounced.
Sinopsis La trama sucede en las calles de New York (EEUU), casi 2 décadas después. Carrie, Miranda y Charlotte, se reencuentran en sus vidas de casadas, familiares, nuevas metas y situaciones que se presentan individualmente. Ingresan nuevos personajes que van dando vida en esta temporada y, adaptado perfectamente a los tiempos vividos actualmente. La moda, locaciones y reflexiones, siguen presentes en los episodios. No digo más, para que no suene a spoiler y me denuncien.
Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker)
Carrie is still spectacular. Married, famous, and so impeccable in her lifestyle and dress.
However, in her perfect life, she has to adapt to several changes that occur. She comes from writing in a newspaper or book, to doing other activities as new as this society.
These changes lead them to question themselves in that era that they lived in and that is no more.
How many of us have not gone through the same thing? Adapting to this changing and technological world. Carrie was never very good at even carrying her mobile phone, and I identified with her a lot because every day! We are moving forward and we can't be left behind.
At the same time, finances, new ways of expressing our jobs, in short, even today that I am writing for you who read me through this platform, is something that I would not have believed possible even two years ago. And she is 55 years old, married and with a life ahead of her, she is still learning and adapting.
Her perfect married life suffers a setback (not a spoiler) and she questions herself about relationships: trust, honesty, futures and those awkward conversations that when you are a couple, you have to talk about.
Negative point: very exaggerated fashion, but I'm sure that's how it is now or always was, I just didn't notice it.
Carrie sigue espectacular. Casada, famosa, y tan impecable en su estilo de vida y de vestir. Sin embargo, en su vida perfecta, tiene que adaptarse a varios cambios que ocurren. Viene de la escritura en un periódico o libro, a hacer otras actividades tan nuevas como esta sociedad. Estos cambios las llevan a cuestionarse en esa época que vivió y que ya no está.
¿A cuántas de nosotras no nos ha pasado lo mismo? Adaptarnos a este mundo tan cambiante y tecnológico. Carrie nunca fue muy buena ni siquiera llevando su celular, y eso me identificaba muchísimo con ella porque ¡Cada día! Vamos avanzando y no podemos quedarnos atrás. A la par, las finanzas, las nuevas formas de expresar nuestros empleos, en fin, hasta hoy por hoy que escribo para usted que me Lee por medio de esta plataforma, es algo que ni siquiera dos años atrás lo hubiese creído posible. Y ella con 55 años, casada y una vida por delante, sigue aprendiendo y adaptandose. Su vida perfecta de matrimonio sufre un revés (no es spoiler) y se cuestiona sobre las relaciones de pareja: confianza, honestidad, futuros y esas conversaciones incómodas que cuando se es pareja, deben hablarse. Punto negativo: muy exagerada la moda, pero seguro que así es ahora o siempre fue así, solo que no lo notaba.
Miranda hobbes (Cynthia Nixon)
Miranda, always so impeccable in her speech.
Simple and natural I give her plus point to the grey hair she is sporting perfectly in her new look, she looks great! And it's trendy.
Having a marriage and a teenage son, with all the implications of children at that age: girlfriends at home, sexual relations, opinions, legal substances (not so legal in these parts of the world), in short, leading that life in couples that she didn't ask for but she got, and that she still wants to continue studying, change jobs, and help her husband, is the portrait of a woman who thinks that at that age life has to be like that, but deep down she is unhappy with what she has.
The focus given, on Is this all I have to have in life? Is there no more for me? Do I have to be content? It is interesting to see it and to give one's own point of view. Already this series of situations generates an internal and external problem, which she doesn't notice yet.
The negative point I see is... How to say it without being spoiler or judging? It's not the way. Neither as a family, nor as a couple, much less in friendship, it's not the way.
Miranda, siempre tan impecable en su discurso. Sencilla y natural le doy su punto positivo a las canas que luce perfectamente en su nuevo look ¡Se ve genial! Y es tendencia. Llevar un matrimonio e hijo adolescente, con todas las implicaciones de los hijos a esa edad: novias en casa, relaciones sexuales, opiniones, sustancias lícitas (no tan lícitas por estos lados del mundo), en fin, llevar esa vida en parejas que ella no pidió pero le tocó, y que aún quiera seguir estudiando, cambiar de empleo, y ayudar a su esposo,es el retrato de un mujer que piensa que a esa edad la vida tiene que ser así, pero en el fondo muy en el fondo está inconforme con lo que tiene.
El enfoque dado, sobre ¿Esto es todo lo que debo tener en la vida? ¿ Ya no hay más para mí? ¿Tengo que conformarme? Es interesante verlo y cada quien dar su punto de vista. Ya se está serie de situaciones genera un problema interno y externo, que aún no nota en ella. El punto negativo que veo es... Como decirlo sin ser spoiler o juzgar... No es la manera. Ni en familia, ni en pareja ni mucho menos amistad,no es la manera.
Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis)
Charlotte's character is one of my favourites; despite living in such a superficial society and circle, she believes in love and family. She knows the sacrifices and negotiations that must be made to stay together and this has been her great secret to success.
Charlotte maintains her perfect life as we have seen it after marriage. However, there are certain situations in her daughter's life that take her out of that perfect order.
And the issues dealt with in this character are as current as the others; we are influenced by media, schools, social circles, stereotypes, that when she goes out of the norm or the expected, we have to be prepared to face them.
The important thing is to know, the fine line in what is fashion, what people see and what they don't see.
El personaje de Charlotte es uno de mis favoritos; a pesar de vivir en una sociedad y círculo tan superficial, ella cree en el amor y la familia. Sabe los sacrificios y negociaciones que deben hacerse para mantenerse unidos y este ha sido su gran secreto del éxito. Charlotte mantiene su vida perfecta como la hemos visto después de casada. Sin embargo, existen ciertas situaciones en la vida de su hija que le saca de ese orden perfecto tenido hasta ahora. Y los temas tratados en este personaje son tan actuales como los demás; estamos influenciados por medios, escuelas, círculos sociales, estereotipos, que cuando sale de la norma o lo esperado, tenemos que prepararnos para afrontarlos.
Lo importante es saber, la delgada línea en lo que es la moda, lo que ven los niños, los deberes y derechos, el papel de la escuela, las formas de educación actual, que en cualquier familia (sea judía o no) y tiene que existir formas de tratar. Punto negativo: me gustaría que pusieran más atención a esas conductas. Aunque la serie no trata sobre eso, ya que lo tocaron, sería bueno ver el enfoque desencadenado.
New and not so new but already great characters
This new season, of course, brings fresher characters that contribute to the plot, current issues, so current that I was surprised because maybe they happen in New York, but in these parts it is still a little unknown. Here I will make a few spoilers, but the dialogue is very focused on these situations:
The LGBTTTIQ community (sorry if you forgot a letter or not).
Covid-19.
Interracial protests. Lots of characters and situations around this.
Alcoholism.
Social networking.
And so much more that Hey! left me thinking but certainly adds a lot to the current times.
As a positive point, I see that they are including current issues, what you would call "series with purpose", and that's good, raise some voices that were not silent for a long time.
Negative for me: that it deviates a bit from the central theme of relationships and those difficult situations, but it's ok. I think there are things going on in the world out there and we have to adapt.
Nuevos personajes y no tan nuevos pero ya grandes Esta nueva temporada, pro supuesto que trae personajes más frescos y que aportan a la trama, temas actuales, tan actuales que quede sorprendida porque quizás pasan en Nueva York, pero por estos lados es todavía un poco desconocido. Aquí si haré un pocos e spoiler, pero es que los diálogos están muy enfocados en esas situaciones:
- La comunidad LGBTTTIQ (disculpen si olvidó una letra o no es así). - Covid-19. - Las protestas interraciales. Muchos personajes y situaciones en torno a esto. - Alcoholismo. - Redes sociales.
Y otros tanto que ¡Oye! Me dejaron pensando pero sin duda aportan muchísimo en estos tiempos actuales. Cómo punto positivo, veo que están incluyendo temas actuales, lo que se llamaría " serie con propósito", y eso está bien, levantar algunas voces que no estuvieron calladas durante mucho tiempo. Negativo para mí: que se desvía un poco del tema central de las relaciones de pareja y esas situaciones difíciles, pero está bien. Pienso que afuera están ocurriendo cosas en el mundo y nos debemos adaptar.
Overall, I thought it was a good proposal, to learn about current issues and how they deal with these situations after the age of 50. Also, they are still cute and elegant.
I don't like the ending of the first chapter (spoiler), as it broke my heart.

Estoy de acuerdo contigo amiga, a mi tampoco me gustó el primer capitulo por su final, sin embargo en terminos generales esta temporado es realmente buena con temas muy actualizados y fresca.
