The pendulum swings on four photo Thursday

There are a bunch of clichés running through my head:

What a difference a day makes

...and...

All good things come to those who wait

...or perhaps more aptly...

The pendulum swings

Bit first, three photos - sort of for feline Friday:

Gandalf thinks he's invisible but his tail gives him away

Tell him, you can see him, and the tail flaps

...and doesn't stop. A little like a whip. Or a pendulum...

Why have I settled on the pendulum? Well, what I've both been waiting for, and afraid of, happened. Hurry-up-and-wait, in the space of five minutes turned into we-need-it now. In the space of one phone call - at midday on the 17th of the month. Anyway, my client agrees that our client will have to accept that we can do only what's humanly possible. Even though my preference is to have completed all the work and billed... We shall see. Given that I have six working days left in the month - for them!

Happily, I had a mostly productively billable afternoon before heading to the kitchen.

Poached duck eggs on a bed of sautéed vegetables with seared courgette. Side salads for both of us and potatoes for him.

Post script: I am trying to participate in @traciyork's November #HiveBloPoMo. I emphasise trying because the last two months have been exactly that - trying. There have been times that I've just been too exhausted and uninspired to post, let alone write something profound. That shouldn't stop you - or anyone. Read about how to participate here.

I've made it to day 17!

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

  • lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on @hive.blog and Canva.

Gourgeous food as always!

I really have to level up my poaching skills, because I love poached eggs, but mine usually end up looking more like egg drop soup than anything else. Maybe practising a bit more often than once a year will help, and until I succeed I guess I can have soup for breakfast and lunch 😹

Thank you! You know, the secrets to poached eggs are the freshest possible eggs and vinegar: a good glug of vinegar in the water helps to "contain" the white. Practise does make perfect, and I love "proper" poached eggs. Try the vinegar trick and let me know?

I knew about the vinegar, and have been using it, so I guess the problem is the eggs. We bought a 30 pack this Wednesday, not on sale or anything, and then noticed when we got home that the best before date was December 5th. :( Usually it's 2-3 months away.

Gandalf's tail is like Grogu's. They can't stop moving. 😹

I hope you can finish your work in the best way, but let's not forget that we are human, and we do what we can.
Happy weekend 🤗

Even in his sleep 😹

Fortunately my client gets that. I can only do my best. Let's see what the week chucks and me!

Enjoy your weekend, Eli!
