The more things change, some things stay the same

Where does one begin?

Doing as normal as one can. This Saturday (yesterday), I did two markets. For the third time this year. The first was in February. The second was in March and, for some reason, I didn't share about it. With hindsight, and part of the reason is because The Husband wasn't well that day and I was also preoccupied with getting back "into" things after our wonderful break. Little were we to know that that would be our last holiday together. Ever.

Anyway, I had committed to yesterday's second market as far back as that market in March. A life time ago.

So, yesterday, the day began, as is usual for Saturday with our usual market and with the current seasonal offering in the jar.

It's soups at the moment and yesterday it was the low carb cauliflower and leek. I now realise that this is a recipe I've been promising. Which reminds me: when my laptop was stolen four weeks ago, many of my embryonic recipes went with it. The ones I'd not posted on my blog or on the blockchain. Will I "make them up" again? I don't know. The Husband's not here to do quality control. Anymore.

The second market was a seasonal wine focused affair: red and sweet wines. I shared my stall with my baker market pal, Janet, who prepared the most spectacular chocolate gateaux. I stuck to my deli offerings but had no bread: I'd sold all of that in the morning and between the two markets had to make a fresh batch of chicken liver pate.

The weather gods smiled on us after three weeks of non-stop rain. It was good to spend the afternoon in the sun, sip wine and listen to live music. Music The Husband would have danced to....

Did I have a fun day? No. I had a good day. But it was a day that had a void. As do all my days. Tomorrow it will be four weeks.

At home, the feline family were very annoyed. By the time I got home - around 9.30pm because I went and ate some supper at the local (I had not had a proper meal), I'd been gone for the most part since 8am.

And they were cold. This was thanks for the electric blanket.

Until next time

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised applications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

  • lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on @hive.blog and Canva.

Life is tough, too many questions go through out thoughts the what if's and why's, never stop living even though it feels like you cotton head trying to hang in there for now.

Keeping busy, being with the folk in town is healthy and wise, pushing yourself ever forward one step at a time.

Food stall looks well stocked, selling on a warm day outdoors, three little cats waiting to love you, or the electric blanket once you got home, proud you managing one day at a time!

Void in every day? This sounds very depressing. What, which things, or who is/are missing from your days?

I know the void feeling. The emptiness. I felt it multiple times. Both in the case of people and animals too. I felt it, when I lost my mother. And I also felt it when I lost my bird (a Harris's hawk). We feel this, when we lose someone, who we very much love. Sorry for your loss.

Hi, Fiona.

I hope you did well at the Saturday markets in terms of sales. And it sounds like you were also able to distract yourself. I know it must be hard but one day at a time.

I'm glad to see you are busy and back to posting on Hive about your activities. I missed your posts 🤗🤗

The feline family looks great, and no one would say they don't enjoy being together;)

The feline family .... no one would say they don't enjoy being together;)

Winter is a great leveler 🤣

I am not unhappy with the sales from Saturday's two markets. Not as good as summer, but that's to be expected.

Thank you for the welcome back:

I need to get into the rhythm of personal writing again. It's a discipline. Also folk have asked me to write about my journey. It's still a bit raw.

I am so sorry to read this. I can only imagine how you are feeling 😥 my deepest condolences. Staying busy will help to keep the intrusive thoughts at bay and doing a market where there are others who know you and who knew your husband will provide some comfort.
