T minus seven
Yesterday was T minus seven days to the first McGregor Winter Fair | Makietie.
Starting from the bottom of the list, yesterday was one of the biggest jobs: koeksisters.
Then it was two other items that also have long shelf lives: chicken liver pâté and the crostini.
The chicken pâtê will be available to buy on its own, or folk will be able to make their own ploughman's platter by adding cheese(s), pickles, hummus, pickles and crostini.
The latter will also go with the French onion soup which will be piping hot... Watch this space to see how I plan to serve it...
That list doesn't inlude everything, not least the last minute behind the scenes organising with the team.
We are trusting the weather gods have timed the cold front perfectly. It will pass and leave clear skies, sun and snowy mountains for the perfect backdrop.

Now if I was a Cape Townian like @therneau @zakludick @zo3d ...who else?...I'd definitely take a drive to the beautiful town of McGregor, not just for a day's outing but also consider a weekend away from it all! Don't. We're praying that the rain angels do what they usually do: dance around the mountains and leave us alone! If it rains that weekend, it'll be - according to The Husband's records - the first time in 7 years!!

A fantastic idea, but the weather forecast is looking a bit ominous! I am going to be playing a gig in Hermanus on Saturday, and I hope the weather doesn't stop people from coming for a drink and enjoying the live music I provide!
Like I once said to Fiona, I have only been to McGregor once, but I know a few people there now so would love to go back!
We are watching the weather and have plan B. We are also having conversations with the weather gods and we believe they'll be on our side!!
Break a leg for your gig and when you're next here...perhaps playing with @clairemobey at the courtyard... with @zakludick... As I said to @therneau, I'm not going anywhere...nor is the market. :D

I'd love to go through to McGreggor some time when Fiona is doing a market. Cash wise, we've been strapped down with ropes, cable ties, and anything else you can think of, lol.
Once things improve, a visit, and perhaps a weekend getaway, will definitely be on the cards.
I really admire how you remain so positive @therneau; with this kind of attitude those ropes and cable ties will soon just fall apart!
Wish we could go down and take a break, but this has been one of the worst years for a very long time, so getaways are out for now!

I would love to try to make koeksisters. There's someone selling them here a couple years back but i never got to try, as they were selling from home with no license and got shutdown. Their pictures of the koeksisters were mouth watering, made me sad that i didnt get to try 😅
