Friday Files: 57, four, three

I was glad to see the back of yesterday. Without airing dirty laundry, our neighbours of four months, showed their unneighbourly true colours. They, or one, anyway, lives in fear of what happens in the country and in the village and are intent on making it our problem. No conversation. No discussion. Just very thinly veiled threats. I don't do well under those circumstances. I do know, that they have no base for them. But still. Unpleasant and unnecessary. Eventually, it will pass.

So

On to what I did accomplish, along with the usual bread and a vegetable curry for the jar and the market.

in the jar...this week...

I cleaned up and labeled marmalade.

29 jars of three fruit marmalade

Three weeks, four batches, 57 jars made.

Another batch of lemon, and definitely grapefruit and probably three fruit, are on the agenda in the next few months to build a stockpile while the citrus is still in season. The 30-odd three fruit in stock, depending on "bulk" as in 10 at a time buyers, is probably six month's stock.

very complicated, high tech record keeping

A total of 361 jars of marmalade have gone to happy homes since I started my high tech record in September 2019 - 2 ½ years.

The only sales and promotion: the Saturday morning market in McGregor and my burbles on social media.

Until next time, be well

As you know we have one set of neighbours who also is a pain in the butt! It reminds me of the old Afrikaans phrase - "sonde met die bure", something we never had with any of our neighbours 🤬
I wish I could be such a good bookkeeper, but I'm not surprised as you keep such good record of SBC's records!
I hope you have a good market day Fiona!

It was an good excellent one, surprisingly, thank you. We have decided to ignore the threats and do what we were going to do. I spoke to a friend with a legal background and he rolled his eyes and shrugged. His comment went something along the lines of some people in this village have too much time!

Not gonna lie, that marmalade looks amazing and I would love to have that on some toast right now. I totally do not blame those 10 bottles-at-time buyers 😂

The veg curry looks enticing as does the marmalade.
Thinly veiled threats, well they get just get to buggery. There are always some people intent on being total arse£$%£s everywhere unfortunately.
I hope that you are having a great market day Fiona!

It was an good excellent one, surprisingly, thank you.

All the veg curry gone and another 6 jars of marmalade to add to the tally. I am definitely going to have to make more grapefruit, soon. Someone came back for a second jar!

As far as the neighbours are concerned, we have decided to ignore the threats and do what we were going to do. I spoke to a friend with a legal background and he rolled his eyes and shrugged. His comment went something along the lines of some people in this village have too much time!

Your photos make everything leap off the page. I wanted to go toast some bread so I could open up a jar of your marmalade. Best of luck at the market!

Hello, woman! Haha! Robert Frost coined the phrase “good fences make good neighbors” in his 1914 poem “Mending Wall.” I wonder if he had a neighbor like this?

I use that Robert Frost quote. Often. However, sometimes they're just not quite enough. Anyway,I spoke to a friend with a legal background and he rolled his eyes and shrugged. His comment went something along the lines of some people in this village have too much time!

Thank for all you do with #marketfriday!

Sorry to hear about your neighbours. We had huge issues with one of ours - things have settled down a lot, thankfully.

Making veggie curry tonight! And damn, you always make me crave marmalade...
