Coming soon...October Hive Power Up Day

Octber PUD.jpg

I keep on saying that I plan to spend more time here. September has been a whirlwind of stuff, not least of all, less than a week ago. Truth be told, I'd really like to be like Gandalf, and curl up with my hand over my face. Just for a while. That said, I have been a little less absent... So, on to the business of Hive Power Up Day.

Power of three

The commitment of power of three (Silver Blogging Women) which began in July 2022, continues.

The beneficiaries of our delegations are selected from accounts that participate in #HivePud, and who Traci identifies with the help of, a new numbers man in the form of the legendary @arcange.

When Traci is about to publish her final results post, she also sends me a list of accounts that meet the basic criteria of age and HP, and then I go through them to see if they meet the additional criteria (see below).

The OctoberHive Power Up Day is approaching

So, for October - and for the foreseeable - my usual delegation of 100 HP will go ahead and, as has become customary, that delegation will be tripled by matching delegations from @lizelle and @coquicoin. That means 300 HP each to redfish accounts that meet the basic Power Up Day Criteria as well as these additional criteria:

Eligible accounts must also be -

  • be less than 6 months old
  • have at least two qualifying posts since the previous power up day.
Posts that qualify must have 200 words or more and exclude posts for Power Up Day, as well as which are specific to Actifit and gaming.
  • a reputation of less than 61
  • not more than 500 HP in their accounts before they power up - both on the first of the month

As a reminder, the the second criterion is because Hive is a community -

Hive is a social blockchain: it's for socialising, ruminating and just generally hanging out.

A note -

We noted in our March delegation post that our criteria are under review. Partly because of lower than usual participation. We have made no decisions in this regard. For all of us, RL has sent us a few curved balls, so we'll wait for things to unfold.

And that's not all -

Every account that participates in Power Up Day, and does so regularly, stands a chance of receiving a delegation from @hivebuzz - in addition to a bee badge. Check this out for the full buzz.

Now, back to our contribution:

What happens if no accounts qualify?

Thanks for asking, and yes it does happen. I don't make decisions on my own, so if, as has happened in the past, there are "slim pickings", the three of us put our heads together, working via Traci who is also with the @ocd and @lovesniper noob curation initiatives. What will also not change, and which began in June is working with @zakludick to identify deserving members of his growing activity group.

The three of us make a joint decision about the accounts that are ultimately supported.

Delegating is not enough (speaking for myself)

Remember that in addition to the delegations, I add these accounts to my fanbase so that they receive a daily 100% upvote (if my voting power is still more than 90%; if it's not, I do try to manually upvote (qualifying) posts.

That's my intention, but as I've mentioned, RL is getting the better of my virtual one at the moment. This is also why I ask @ginabot to notify me each time they post. If I have an opportunity, I do pop over and have a gander and, occasionally, either weigh in on whatever the post may be about, and/or reblog it.

Also, @jellyvine, @sherline and @mclynchy, in about 10 days, I will be cancelling delegations to you so that I can allocate the HP to three new redfish. So if your wallet suddenly shrinks by 100HP, that's why.

See you on Hive Power Up Day, 1 October 2023

PS Thank you for @doze for that lovely text divider. Do pop over and check out his posts for fabulous free-to-use Hive graphics and animations.

Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:

  • re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
  • and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
I blog to the Hive blockchain using a number of decentralised appplications.
  • From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.

  • lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on @hive.blog and Canva.

Then it should be about meaningful comments under other people's posts, and not about the number of posts. Everyone can write posts. Most people even focus on it.

By the way, the third rule ("a reputation of less than 61") exclude a lot of people from the participating. Me too. My current reputation is 71.

I appreciate your feedback, but 2 things: comments are more difficult for us to monitor and gauge we have a lot of posts to go through and secondly, and more importantly, this is for new arrivals on the blockchain and as a way of helping them to get going. You missed the criterion that the accounts must be less than 6 months old. There are other initiatives for folk like you with reputations beyond our cut-off. Including the HivePUD lucky draws.

Trust that clears things up! Have a good weekend!

Yes. And with this I understand the reputation criterion too. This is for new users.
