An old favourite for Meatfree Monday
Having not had Swiss chard (which we call spinach) in the garden thanks to the guineafowl, that have now moved on, we have a new crop. It was the hero of last night's supper along with a little chilli from a friend's garden.
Spinach dahl with Bombay potatoes is a winter favourite and one of the first vegan meals I ever fed The Husband. That must have been 20 years ago. He liked it instantly and it's been a feature of our winter menu ever since.
That's The Husband's help-himself bowl next to mine. Why do I do the comparison? Because people don't believe me that the rake of a man actually eats for four. We really are the reverse of Jack Sprat and his wife. When I snapped that pic, he said -
You're really trying to prove I eat for two?
Yip. And he went back for seconds.
PS I know that I've promised both @lizelle and @artywink this recipe. I had forgotten until I was half way through cooking eating last night's supper. I shall be making it again this winter so I promise that before the cold's gone, you'll have the recipe. It just will not be this month!
Until next time, be well

If this post might seem familiar, it's because I'm doing two things:
- re-vamping old recipes. As I do this, I am adding them in a file format that you can download and print. If you download recipes, buy me a coffee. Or better yet, a glass of wine....?
- and "re-capturing" nearly two years' worth of posts.
- From Wordpress, I use the Exxp Wordpress plugin. If this rocks your socks, click here or on on the image below to sign up.
- Join Hive using this link and then join us in the Silver Bloggers' community by clicking on the logo.

- lastly, graphics are created using partly my own photographs, images available freely available on @hive.blog and Canva.
This looks fantastic! I had some nasty critters eat most of my swiss chard but I planted a new crop and some of the old ones survived. I watered them this morning and they look like they are growing nicely again.
I am going to make this soon! It seems like a hearty and comforting recipe in this cold winter Cape rainy weather! Thanks for sharing.
It most certainly is!
I'm also calling over another Capetonian who's trying to gather South Africans: @zakludick here's another!
I am here!
Oh. I know @fermentedphil! Hehe!
But thank you! Keep tagging me in!
And have you met @itsostylish? She's from up Jozi way.
She's on my list but I have not seen her comment there I think!
I hope she is doing well!
Yes, we have discussed SA and fiction. Haha
@zukludick and @fionasfavourites
He's looking at starting a South African community. We used to have one a few years ago on that other blockchain. We also had a Discord that @therneau ran. You in?
Yes, absolutely. Look at the fantastic way the Nigerians support each other 🤗❤️💕
PS : ask @joanstewart too
I've tried gaining access to my old Discord tag, but the 2fa keeps throwing me off. The keys for the teamsouthafrica account is on there... well, some of the keys cheetoblue gave me when he left.
It would have been great to be able to retrieve that then just tag all the South African's in.
Anyway, I'll keep trying.
Have you contacted Discord direct? I have found their support team unbelievably helpful.
No, I haven't tried that yet. Thanks, I'll look into that.
@fionasfavourites The Spinach Dahl looks so yummy! I do not blame your husband for getting more helpings! 😀
Thanks for sharing. Gives me some more ideas for dinner ...
Glad to help!
The Spinach Dahl looks so yummy. I will love to see that recipe too winter or not ;).
And your bowl compared to your husband's could very well be the same as they would be over here in my house 🤣
The recipes will come. I actuall found a draft post while I was showing something to a client yesterday!
Hahaha! And he doesn't have an ounce of fat!
Here, we can't say the same 🤣🤣🤣
I love the look of those wee finger chillies, I confess to making many a dish like this with those peppers!
Only needed half of one of those little fnckers! Without seeds!
They sound strong wee fnckers!
Wow that looks wonderful. Can't wait to see the recipe.
Oh dear, the pressure!🤣
