Hola estoico al 2024

Es costumbre desear a los seres queridos, familia, amigos y demás personas un feliz año nuevo y es un gesto bastante lindo diría yo, pero, ayer mientras celebrábamos en familia el la llegada del año nuevo y daba buenos deseos por aquí y por allá comencé a reflexionar un poco sobre esta tradición y pensé que a pesar que es un gesto amable y dulce, creo que puede ser un poco inmaduro y hasta falaz.

Así que me retracto de desearle a todos un feliz año nuevo lleno de prosperidad, salud, dicha y éxito. Pensándolo bien voy a cambiar mis deseos para todos, no voy a desear un año de ensueño, cursi y sin defectos para todos. Sino que mi deseo para todos, incluyéndote estimado lector será un poco más realista.

La vida no suele ser demasiado amable la mayoría del tiempo, y seguramente el 2024 trae desafíos, desconozco si serán muchos o pocos, así que mi deseo para este año es valentía para afrontar cada uno de los desafíos que puedan surgir.

A veces los desafíos deben ser afrontados con algo más que mera valentía, a veces, los desafíos pueden convertirse en batallas, es por ello que también deseo Sabiduría, para así poder discernir cada batalla, y poder saber decidir si merecen la pena ser afrontadas o es mejor dar un paso atrás.

Desde una mirada estoica podemos concluir que hay circunstancias que no podemos controlar, de hecho, suceden más cosas fuera de nuestro control que las que realmente podemos controlar. Es por ello, que un deseo estoy para este año que apenas comienza es que hay que hacer las pases con las circunstancias que no podemos controlar. Aceptar las cosas tal como son nos ayudan a entender que las quejas no suelen permitirnos avanzar. Así que otro de mis deseos estimado lector es que "puedas enfocarte" en todo aquello que si puedes controlar y de ese modo poder transformar a medida de lo posible nuestro entorno.

Otro de mis deseos estoicos es la amabilidad ser gentil es ser una persona educada, pero, ser gentil con nosotros mismos es de sabios. Cometemos errores, nos equivocamos y solomos ser demasiado severos con nosotros mismos, y la ira, la culpa, el arrepentimiento nos lastima, y nos impide crecer. La auto-amabilidad nos permite ser mejores personas cada día. Hay que entender que no estamos compitiendo los unos con los otros, que todos vamos caminando a nuestro propio ritmo, y eso hay que entenderlo.

Mi ultimo deseo estoico para todos en este 2024 es que no deseo que las cosas ocurran tal como las podamos imaginar o desear, sino, que todo ocurra tal cual deba ocurrir. Que las cosas sean tal cuales son, y que independientemente del desenlace en este año, independientemente de lo que pueda ocurrir, deseo que cada persona tenga presente que la realidad no nos da felicidad, sino que, es lo que interpretamos de lo que ocurre lo que nos pueda traer felicidad o tristeza.

Quizá sea un poco cliché la frase que la felicidad proviene del interior, y en parte es cierto, aunque no es una verdad absoluta, espero que sin importar lo que nos toque vivir a cada uno, que todos podamos ser felices en la medida de lo posible, entendiendo que cada realidad es única y no podemos comparar

Creo que de ahora en adelante, no deseare un feliz año nuevo, sino que desearé que el año nuevo sea tal cual es, ya que un año no trae felicidad, pero, lo que si trae es un devenir incierto, y que dentro de la incertidumbre encontremos la mejor versión de nosotros.

Hello Stoic to 2024

It is customary to wish loved ones, family, friends and others a happy new year and it is quite a nice gesture I would say, but, yesterday while we were celebrating with family the arrival of the new year and giving good wishes here and there I began to reflect a little on this tradition and I thought that although it is a kind and sweet gesture, I think it may be a little immature and even fallacious.

So I take back wishing everyone a happy new year full of prosperity, health, happiness and success. On second thought I am going to change my wishes for everyone, I am not going to wish a dreamy, cheesy and flawless year for everyone. Instead, my wish for everyone, including you dear reader, will be a little more realistic.

Life is not usually too kind most of the time, and surely 2024 brings challenges, I don't know if they will be many or few, so my wish for this year is courage to face each and every challenge that may arise.

Sometimes challenges must be faced with more than mere courage, sometimes challenges can become battles, that is why I also wish Wisdom, so that I can discern each battle, and be able to decide if they are worth facing or if it is better to take a step back.

From a stoic point of view we can conclude that there are circumstances that we cannot control, in fact, more things happen out of our control than we can actually control. That is why, a wish I have for this year that is just beginning is that we must make peace with the circumstances we cannot control. Accepting things as they are helps us to understand that complaints usually do not allow us to move forward. So another of my wishes, dear reader, is that you "can focus" on everything you can control and thus be able to transform our environment as much as possible.

Another of my stoic wishes is kindness to be gentle is to be an educated person, but, to be gentle with ourselves is wise. We make mistakes, we make mistakes and we tend to be too hard on ourselves, and anger, guilt, regret hurts us, and prevents us from growing. Self-kindness allows us to be better people every day. We have to understand that we are not in competition with each other, that we are all walking at our own pace, and we have to understand that.

My last stoic wish for everyone in this 2024 is that I do not wish that things happen as we can imagine or wish, but that everything happens as it should happen, that things are as they are, and that regardless of the outcome this year, regardless of what may happen, I wish that each person keeps in mind that reality does not give us happiness, but that it is what we interpret of what happens that can bring us happiness or sadness.

Perhaps it is a bit cliché the phrase that happiness comes from within, and in part it is true, although it is not an absolute truth, I hope that no matter what we have to live each one, we can all be happy as far as possible, understanding that each reality is unique and we can not compare.

I think that from now on, I will not wish a happy new year, but I will wish that the new year be as it is, because a year does not bring happiness, but what it does bring is an uncertain future, and that within the uncertainty we find the best version of ourselves.
