The masses cry out for freedom..
If you know anything about ancient history, you will know that when one person or group of people tried to take control of everything and maintain power while hundreds of millions lived in slavery, eventually these powerful people lost power and it was returned to the masses. Of course right now we do not see slavery in its clearest sense of the word, but today's society is so to speak enslaved to new things like centralized social networks and debt, but, although debt is something very common in modern society, traditional social networks is something that is slowly losing its dominance and influence. Already more and more people are clamoring for freedom of speech.
What is common among the rich, famous and influential? Buy social networks to defend the right of freedom of speech, it has already happened with other millionaires and powerful as Donald Trump when he was banned from Twitter for what happened in the capitol because he incited hatred and riots. There is also billionaire Elon Musk, who has decided to buy one of the most famous social networks to defend the right to freedom of expression.
But recently another celebrity who wants to buy a social network because of the lack of freedom, and it is a case that besides being laughable, gives a clear example of how obsolete WEB2 social networks are becoming. The singer Kanye West has decided to buy the social network Parler (well it is still under agreement) since he was censored for racist and anti-Semitic comments on his social networks Instagram and Twitter. Kanye's goal is to offer a space where *"freedom of expression comes first."
But obviating the ridiculous propaganda pushed by celebrities, there is a big problem that exists among users of traditional social networks, the great hypocritical censorship by these social networks to anyone who tries to express a different opinion is something very obvious. And I say hypocritical censorship because when some extremist wants to kill hundreds of people publishes something on their social networks and these do not silence him until he has committed the crime, to try to erase a bad reputation. Also, the fact that the content you post on your Instagram, Facebook or Twitter profile is not yours, but a corporation's is totally unfortunate.
That's why WEB3 social networks like Hive are making more and more noise, as it's totally anti-censorship, your content can't be deleted and it's totally yours everything you post. Of course millionaires and celebrities who buy social networks are not interested in something purely decentralized, but the real power is in the masses and now we are seeing an awakening, perhaps in a few years we will see how the influence of traditional social networks will diminish while web3 social networks will increase.
