Not Complete!

Nothing incomplete makes sense. It would seem the one part compliments the other, and it goes both ways. One part is useless without the other, and I think this is a good way of trying an invention. There would be no self-sufficiency, the item would have to cooperate to have a smooth run.
Imagine you are told to retrieve something, and you discover at the end of the stressful journey that you only acquired an incomplete piece, leaving the other part out, how will you feel?
Majorly, I have seen movies where a piece is divided into two so that the enemies would have a hard time finding it. Maybe after stressing for one piece, you will do the same for another which is nearly impossible.
