BPO Industries contribution during Pandemic

Hello hivers, it's me again with another blog.
I wanted to share this way back after my introduction but I haven't got the chance to since I was busy with a lot of things and prioritized other blogs. So now is the right time to share this with you.

As mentioned in my introduction that way back in 2015 I came to Cebu and live independently and was able to get a job from one of the biggest and known call center companies here in Cebu.
Getting the job was not that easy and nerve-racking especially that I don't know what to do and that was my first interview using straight English language. 😂

I can't imagine the look on my face and I remember the first question they asked me that time, the interviewer asked me why would I want to work in a BPO Industry and I answered it this way " I have some friends who work in a BPO Industry and I can see that they have the luxury to buy the things that they want because of the money they are earning ", he smiles at me and ask me again, did you know what it's like working in a BPO Industry? I replied; "No, but I am going to take a risk because I wanted to earn money not only for myself but to support my family.

And he asked me with this very popular question "Why should we hire you?"

My answer was pretty innocent and still laughing about it till this very moment; I answered, you should hire me not only because you are hiring but I know that I can be a good addition to your team. And he smile and said, I wasn't expecting that you will answer me that way especially that you don't have any experience and after few minutes he gave me the paper and said, " congratulations, you pass".

Is it a good thing to hear when you applied for a job? Well, surely it is.
But sadly the moment that I started working in the BPO Industry I see a lot of hatred and discrimination from other people who degrading the career path of many.

Yes, not all of the people working in this industry indeed have their Bachelor's degrees, they indeed accept High School graduates, it's true that they openly accept people of all gender with no discrimination. They even accept people with disabilities. But even if this Industry accepts all people with no discrimination in return we are being judged and discriminated against by the people who don't have any idea on what it's like working in this Industry.

We have been call names by our customers, we have been degraded, we have been verbally curse but people who don't work in this industry don't know that. When we post our achievements, the things we can buy people will always have to say something but don't you know that that is only consolation after a stressful week? I bet some of you don't.

When the pandemic hits most of the people get affected especially their source of income and some lose their jobs at the same time. Companies laying off people and closing their businesses. But one of the Industries that survived and helped the Economy was the BPO Industry, the Industry where people used to discriminate.

I was lucky enough that even during the pandemic I still have a job. Our company decided to choose 3 to 5 associates in each team to be included on the BCP, wherein we have to stay in the hotel while working on-site, with a strict protocol.

While nurses and doctors are working to stop the spread of the virus, we the BPO Industry are working silently to keep our economy afloat

Nowadays, this Industry is still helping people to have a job and even offering to work from home. I must say that beyond all the discrimination we get still we are thankful to have a job and help not only our family but as well as the economy.

That's it for today hivers, please don't forget to be grateful and always be a blessing. 😘😘

I read somewhere too that the BPO industry is indeed keeping the economu afloat. It's sad that a lot of people can easily discrimate you based on what you do but never experience what you do.

Nice, your answer was simple you said? Well, I think it's not, it's a straightforward answered that felt you told that interviewer to hire you because you'd be something in the future.
