Humming bridge
The 25 de Abril Bridge is such a beautiful bridge but so poorly adapted for photographers. Come on! It is just asking to stand in the middle of it and shoot all that symmetricity.
But nope. No stopping on the bridge.
No pedestrians or bike lanes.
I guess there is a reason for that - it is way harder for suicidal people to jump of it. And since it is really tall one and the river is big and wide, the death is guaranteed.
The view from it is breathtaking though! Ocean on one side, wide river on the other. Later in the evening you can even catch a sunset on the ocean side.
The bridge was built in 1966 on the Tagus river connecting Lisbon to the other side in Almada. I believe back then it was the only bridge connecting the capital to the other side. It has two decks: upper one for cars and bottom one for trains.
Now there is another one - Vasco da Gama Bridge further inland on the other side of Lisbon. It is the second longest bridge in Europe. Google it. It is freaking amazing too!
Here is a fun fact: When you stand close to the bridge you will head a humming sound of the cars driving though it.

I heard it once myself and first I had no idea where the damn sounds comes from!

One can commit suicide and create a traffic jam at the same time. It would be like a two-for.
Yeah, someone will have to remove the parked car from the bridge, but, you know the car belongs to the finance company anyway so who really cares.
I wish there was a pedestrian path on all bridges. I suspect that they did not add one because of the expense.
I am not sure why it's not there. I still think it's because of safety issues.
But I do wish I could walk across... or cycle.
Beautiful pica...and most valuable..u manage to get past the bridge on that little ride...*(zebra/ponyor horse)...hope you enjoyed the ride 😉

Did you notice the humming effect of the bridge sounds like the Star Gate visual from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey? Eerie and very cool. You often get some great noises out of these bridges and no blurry photos either. You must be a pro

It looks really similar to the Manhattan bridge! Really beautiful photos, and sad there is no parking area to take great photos of the bridge. Despite this you’ve done really good taking those photos! Thank you!
Thank you! Nothing on the bridge directly unfortunately. Even driving on it there is a huge fence blocking the view on both sides.
But of course there is a very cool view from the shore :)
