Aloe Aristata in bloom
This is quite common (I think) and easy to grow aloe. Not very unusual and I think it can be found Ikea.
What makes it more special is the story behind.
Few years ago I was visiting my cousin and she had few pots of it growing in her kitchen. She said it grows so fast and has so many of shoots... she will give one little baby.
Cool! The smaller the better - easier to carry in handlanguage.
Then she told me she got it also as small baby from her daughter. The daughter got it when she moved to her new flat (she doesn't live there anymore and the aloe is still here).
So from city to city, house to house it ended up on the other side of Europe.
This spring I repotted it to this big and shallow pot and damn it loves it! It was a small bush in the middle and now it slowly starts to touch the edges too. I wish it didn't grow so fast - I don't have a bigger pot for it.
And this must be my favourite photo. I really like how the flower stems bended and hangs down.
This is such such a forgiving plant! It had much smaller pot before and you can see some dry leaves in the center since it didnt hold enough water for it and I tend to forget to water them sometimes. That biggest rosette is the one I brought with me. All the little babies grew here. Now with more room in the new pot it starts to look a little better. And for the first time it bloomed for me with two flowers stems.

Very beautiful plant
Welcome to the world Aristata!
Aristata thanks you :)
The damn botanists have renamed it Aristaloe aristata. Here, there is a traditional belief that planting it around the house protects the house from lightning. So it's loved everywhere for the house. Yours is a small form, there are a couple of different-looking types
They just want to confuse people :p
Here the Vera one is more popular. It just grows everywhere... With yellow or red flowers.
I actually have one too, but it doesn't want to bloom.
Your plants definitely love to bring you flowers. This aloe moved from place to place and now it decided to show some more decoration to the grey four-legged flower inspector :)
The inspector was not impressed.
Not impressed at all!
She just came to the room checking what I was up to, looked at me with disapproval and left.
Maybe now she doesn't like red flowers.
She even didn't stay for show a bit of herself in any photo... Maybe tomorrow, for Caturday she have more "approval" attitude :D
Not even for that... categorically refused to pose and take any part in the whole thing.
#Catitude :)
Ow, she is a teenager :)) Have one in the house not wanting to pose...

.We had aloe plants where I grew up. Anytime we got sunburnt (which was often) we'd just go break off a branch and smear the goo on our skin. Good times :)
That's a new one.
I have this one too :) Once I cut it to see what's inside and damn it smells bad!!
Never heard of a handlanguage plants?
Like those tiny little doggies... but plants. Very trendy now! :)
Shut up you crazy nut, everyone knows there is no such thing... filthy liar!
Of course, handlanguage plants. What was I thinking!
A nice looking Aloe. I also like the way the stem bends with the flowers at the end.
Thanks!
Yea it looks cool, but takes so much space :p
Yes.
Liada crocodile is easy to find and also very easy to plant.
But the strange thing is the flower in the aloe vera.
Is that the flower of aloe vera?
Because I've never seen it.
This is amazing.
It is not aloe vera, but aloe aristata :)
So the flowers are a bit different.
What's Liada crocodile?
Ooo.
I mean is it aloe vera flower.
And I have :-)
