The Failed Aurora Hunt

Why, when the words "the strongest magnetic storm of the century" are heard, does the sky decide not to show anything in our region? At the end of January this year, a magnetic storm hit the Earth, which became the strongest storm of the 21st century.

But instead of a bright glow, there are disappearing light pillars and a gloomy sky over the Spaso–Prilutsky monastery...

I waited, I prayed for at least the slightest break in the sky, but in vain...

The gloomy sky, illuminated by the traffic interchange on the M8 highway, sometimes looked like it was at sunset.

And I didn't have time for the light poles: upon arrival, I found them at the stage of extinction.

I didn't freeze in the field for a long time and decided to go somewhere else.

In addition, on the online camera, which is located in another area, the sky was already clear.

I went closer to the clear sky, to the village of Kulemesovo.

But even here, I was unlucky. Although a couple of gaps were still given.

Even through the dense clouds, a bright glow could be seen.

And from the active movements of the flashes, it was immediately clear that this was not an ordinary aurora, but something very powerful! I've only seen this kind of movement in cartoons.
